.84 as far as atmosphere goes, .85 or .87 as far as gameplay. A lot of new features were added, but without not really the best implementation. Cloaks and POBs in particular. (Though I still think cloaks could do with some changes, particularly the nomad ones).

.83 and .84 for the atmosphere and the RP.
.85 was a damn fine time as well, on the whole, but things started to fracture with the delays in releasing .86
.86 was disappointing. This is where RP pretty much went out the window. Lots of good people left. admins came and went, devs came and went, and there was just so much friction.
.87 looks more promising. I do miss many of the people that have left though, and there are many gaps that have yet to be filled by new faces.

I believe I started back in .85. I wasn't here for the release of .86 and have been playing it, and now we're at .87.
The RP back when I joined in .85 was amazing, I had some pretty tight factions (ICMG foreveralone!). People actually got to submit ship requests and use them without needing a SRP or taking a tec nerf!

Though, .87 has best ships added so far that I've seen, but I still vote for .85.

Considering I started in 4.85 I have noticed that the rp is much better then than now. That said though I enjoy the new stuff like POBs.

Well, 4.87 is still under continuing improvement. A lot of updates were done and possible more are up to come. It seems unfair to place it in this poll.
4.84-.86 were finished modifications, where the players have squeezed every RP possibility they can think of, especially the general Lore RP. That is why 4.87 arrived in order to continue the lore history and also bring us new features.
Only then, when the 4.87 is complete, fixed of bugs and balance is done - only then such threads would give you a clear view about "which mod was best".

Either way, I voted for .87 because of the possibilities and progress. As for personal preference - most of my friends I found here in discovery already are not part of this community but they were here during .85 and .86. I miss the moments and RP we spent together not because of the mod version. People are those that make a mod good or bad, versions are just to bring new features.
