Stopping, turning his gaze to look at her sideways. "You do not know.. That is actually a little worrying Ellie, a person always subconsciously stacks up all the selfish moments, all the good moments, everything that you've done stupid, and attempts to figure yourself out, however.. If one does not know.."
Mulling a few thoughts around the head of his for a few seconds before motioning over to a bench, walking over and taking a seat. "Come here then."
"Ellie, i'm going to ask you two simple questions. Try your best to answer them if you will.."
Taking a breath, thinking about what two questions would be able to tell him the most about her character, even if she didn't know it herself.
"One.. What do you intend to get done in what time you have left in life? And two, do you have anyone you care about? If not.. Would you like one? Of course i'm not suggesting myself, however.."
The second question, as much as it irks him to ask such, he learned from a certain someone that it is actually quite effective.
Jack is baffled by her words, keeping his mouth shut, not too sure how to react. Instead, he moves his hand very awkwardly onto her shoulder, as if his presence would change something. Perhaps not.
"I see.. So whatever happened must have been rather painful, I can see why you make yourself so distant now. I'll finish up with one last question, perhaps more important than the other two i've asked.."
Eyeing her expression, careful not to misjudge the situation and ask at a bad time, although eventually deciding to go through with it.
"Do you want help? In any regards. You do not seem content. Do you want it to change? Thats all I have left.."
That one mere question.. could help her. But who knows if it would just be pain all over again.
"Help.. in this hellhole..? This man is considerate.."
"No.. no.. NO! It'll just hurt you more again!"
The pain had a louder voice.. It drowned out reason. As if within a second, a very grim flashback came in kicking on the front door.
She shivered a bit, by the thought she wanted to forget. "Help..? What makes you think it'll actually help me.. huh?* almost whispering "I've had too many painful moments.."
The shaking wouldn't stop, but she answered the question. And was quiet again.
Jack smirks, tilting his head slightly. "My dear.. I'm a madman. Although i'm smart enough to act the way I do. I've been there. And I enjoyed it actually unlike yourself. Although regretfully, I know that there is a stage where help is actually something which would indeed do as the word says. Help."
Taking another bite of his sandwich. "You didn't answer my question Ellie.." Waiting until she was done shivering, eying her carefully at this point, questioning what was running through her head.
"Do you wish for help? Do you wish for a way out? To fix things?"
They became rampant.. Voicing themselves even more.
"Never again.. NEVER! Don't do it again!
Or are you willing to go insane!?"
"Let it out..
Or do you want to live alone for the rest of your life..?"
"Stop it... stop.. GO AWAY!"
They cease. The annoyance left. She was left with an empty hand.. Or so it seemed. "Fine... do you think you could do something..? I never could.. nobody else has."
Her shivering stopped. She answered it.. but would it bring any difference into her life?
Jack splits into a wide grin. "I'm going to take this as a yes my dear.. I can help you, of course I can do that. Although, it's going to be a trip. One you may not like too much. If you really are so.. conflicted with yourself, why don't we.. find a compromise between the two? Of course, I hardly know what you're thinking right now, if at all.. The mind isn't that readable regretfully."
She was a bit skeptical about why he had such a grin, but asked regardless. "Trip..? And even one I wouldn't like.. huh? Now what exactly do you have in mind then..? What could you do?"
"So what will you suggest Jack..? Interesting if its something I won't like.. I hope it won't be dispelasing.."
"Oh, now thats just taking the fun out of it! You know, my grandpa once said.. If there's an opportunity, take it. At least I think.. Uhh.. Drop that. Honestly? I forgot most things he said, I suppose I should work on sounding 'cool' sometime else, now is obviously not the time. So what do you say Ellie, without knowing what it is.. Will you jump at the chance? Or will you continue to live out this life in fear."
Sitting back once more, eying the tree across from the bench like it was holding a sniper, ready to shoot the two of them, only to shrug and glance away.
Glancing upwards again, her hair covering her own face. As if hiding something.
"Chances..? There has only been one door open, and that.. was running away. What makes you think this won't result in the same outcome? *tsch* Why am I even damn living is what I wonder each day.. *whispering again* This is so damn pathetic.."
Her head now facing downwards on the floor. As if in shame, or hatred towards something.
Any guarantee it won't result in the situation getting even worse, huh?
A hint of doubt in her voice.
"Why should you listen to him anyway? What does it help?"
