I was feeding my baby so couldn't play the game anyway, I also had a reason to want to stay in system as I said in a previous post.

The only person that wasted his time was the guy in the Navy BC.

yea that's what i meant too (the two quotes were for the posts pertaining to you wasting time), sounds like the chaser was the one wasting time, and if they thought it was a waste then why did the BC partake for so long was what i meant, (should have been obvious to the BC at that distance and time frame of chase he was not going to catch you) sorry

Good point, I guess it would depend on who had the most fuel etc. and who was willing to risk their lives the most, going further and further away from civilization, would they have enough food/fuel to return home?

It's kinda like a "Who can swim the furthest out to sea, first one to turn back loses" competition (from the great film {insert film name here}) you have to take into account that you need to return to shore, so need to conserve energy.

(I can't remember the name of the film, it was about genetically superior humans or something)

its just the same as if you have a player interaction where there are attcks and you blow yourslf up with a mine or a missiles, or a npc pops you.

Transports strafe slower than snubs, so you can catch one before it reaches the wall.

Relative to their size, yes. But that just so happens to be irrelevant for their absolute speed.

The only ships with a strafe force under 20,000 are the Stork, Shetland, Ryuujin and Hatchet. Even chasing those would take painstakingly long if you have to catch up, say, 8k since you'd only go about .5 m/s faster (assuming the one running is smart enough to hit a strafe key, press enter to keep it on permanently, and then go do something else).

(And no, mass has no effect on strafe speeds)

And seriously OP, system wall running is one of the cheapest, dirtiest moves you can make. It seems reasonable to automatically delete any ship that dies to the system wall.
