I dont know what others do. But I know what I do. I argue in private IF at all and, if no understanding can be made then I report.

I never report unless I'm sure its a breach of the rules. I seldom report on the first encounter unless one violation feeds into another and another.

There is nothing that sucks the fun out of the game faster than folks questioning your RP in private accuseingly, or makeing claims that are flat wrong.

I have seen people that have nearly gotten on my last nerve and I was ready to be crude to them but held my tounge, only to see them a day or two later, sometimes only minutes later applogizeing.

In one case I had a guy get mad at me for pirateing him in his empty ship. He said all manner of threats, I was ready to report his rules lawyering. However I didn't, to be honest, I only didnt because its a real drag reporting folks. So, I reserve it for those who dont even seem to be interested for what we are trying to do here. Thus a detriment to all our efforts.

However I guess while attempting to report me he had to read the rules to post the violation in the template and found he was wrong. He then appologized and suddenly I was glad I was not rude to him. Now He and I have the beginings of an RP starting.

But one new guy whose haveing a hard time has knocked some of the jadedness off of me. Deisol, I made a horrible thread about him trying to get him permabanned for somethings he did. I'm glad I was wrong, I'm glad he has not held it personally against me, and I learned a lesson myself. Even the most abhorrent behaveing people can and should be given the chance to meld with us. If they mess up sanctions will teach them.

The moral of the story, hold your tounge when your mad. The guy that your in disagreement with today may be your RP buddy tomarrow. It would be a shame to lose RP before it is ever born.

For the record, I am a veteran.............................of the U.S. Marine Corps. ( yeah I'm proud, So what!) Does that count Nooblet?;)

Been here over a year. Ignore the date it shows under my name ... I have ... ahem ... another account by a different name.

EDIT: And you can't go by the post count either ... there are some who are post frenzied. Take a look at ScornStar and myself. Notice that these two accounts have been active since January of this year (Mine earlier than his) ... yet his post count is 3 times mine. Just making a point Scorn ... nothing personal.

Pff, people it's a bloody game. Just cause this is the internet doesn't mean we have to be wankers. I talked to Dieter once, he told me that he used to lose his head over stuff like this but now he just laughs. He's not the only person. The ridiculousness of getting ganked by 5 missile boats, pirates taking over manhattan with no navy in sight, traders coming back in their battleships only to get blown up once again... just laugh it up. I find it pretty funny really, nevermind if I get blown to bits or not:P

Quite true ... just a game. Do you like Calvin Ball?

For those of you who don't know what Calvin Ball is ... go get yourself a copy of a Calvin and Hobbes comic book. Calvin's a kid with a stuffed toy tiger named Hobbes. When Calvin and Hobbes are alone ... Hobbes is a real tiger and they play this game called Calvin Ball. Ok ... I'll say it ... in Calvin Ball ... the rules are made up as they go along. In other words ... Calvin changes the rules when the game is going against his favor ... hence Calvin Ball.

Anything I say is not intended as offensive, and to try and deliberately misinterpret it as such would be an attempt at trolling via misrepresentation.

It's not a conspiracy, it's localised bias. They're not intelligent enough to form a conspiracy.

I am a veterant, I've been here since hummmmmm April 07.

And I have made a post about the same subject earlier, which I have posted the link in here.

Most of the server population here is made of people who can't let their Ego withstand a defeat or an offense. People not brave enough to deal by themselves with the problem. They need a ''mom'' to solve their prob.

I am guilty of telling someone to get out of the system "Or they will be banned" after dying on my Liberty Navy character *Shuffles feet*...

I think the worst place is in NY.

I started my time here being told that I was going to be shot if I didn't get a Navy ID by an LSF (Can't remember the name) so I didn't start out great... Luckily Etaphreven helped me out:)

I agree with the lets get some veterans in here...What do they think?

Veterans? Sorry but you're only ever as good as your last interaction or post. There's plenty of veterans on the server that I either have scant time for or have yet to interact with. Experience is over-rated unless someone has actually progressed and learned something. Those three years of experience could just be the same day repeated ad nauseum.
If you're of a mindset to get annoyed over a game then you need to go have a walk and get some perspective. BUT the rules are there for a reason. They are phrased simply enough. They don't have to be interpreted, just pointed to when there is a problem. Know them, advise people if you have the time and inclination, but if someone doesn't want to abide by them, there is a system for sanctions set up. Advise or report - don't harangue in game and foul up the atmosphere even more. Or at least do it in private chat.
I don't witness much badgering in game, I've only ever whined about stuff when I was tired or had other things on my mind. I tend to ignore people who blatantly disregard rules about RP. Sure I'll talk to them privately in game but normally only when they do something ridiculous or unfair to me or someone else. Once people who can RP do so, then others will learn from your example.
The game is for playing, the forums for arguing the finer points of what sort of guns a space drug dealer should use on his spaceship.
A call to end rule lawyering in a RP game is futile. The nature of the Disco RP machine is by definition full of grey areas and open to interpretation and all the other messy stuff that comes with being human and having opinions. That is also the great strength of it.
Lawyer on the forum; play the game.

Amen to that.

I am not trying to get at someone and I'm sorry if that is how it came across.

Damn good argument Athenian.

I know this thread won't instantly end the problem overnight, or even convince some people to stop. But I hoped it would would try to get the message across so people can slowly turn down or encourage them to stop before we stamp a sanction report on them.

Yeah, forums for arguing, game for play.
