Best RP i have read in a while. kudos.
Indeed, although yes, Many less pirates, and rare ones with the required RP experience, indie pirates are kinda very rare....
I miss the ild days where you get pirated every system.
Used to be a badass pirate 8| but then life was hard and so I joined factions. Yeah in the past I had time for it as I was more at homeand was still looking for a job, but now I have a job and am working 10 - 11 hours a day and 6 days in a week q_q so it's realy hard for me to just have the patience and look for the Transports for some RP and nice piracy.
Was a molly at Dublin until someone decides to buff ores so massively that people no longer trade and only mine at off the world crazy places. Oh not to mention the chronic fear that traders once had when I pirated them. Now they take it for granted, and complain on every chance they get. Being pirated isn't so bad, give us a mill and enjoy the ride, why complain , or why run and THEN complain. Pirates can be gentle and kind, its their income - show them respect and a criminal WILL show you back.
Piracy is more or less dead because of the following facts:
1. The trade system is made for server full of 400 people. Traders can easy avoid not piracy encounters but all kind of encounters by just switching char or taking a detour.
For current average 50-80 people online we need only 1-2 mining spots and no more then 10 profitable trade routes.
2. Transports are OP in term of survivability and combat ability.
3. Battleship scanners allow the traders to avoid any encounter.
4. Gate guns reduce gate piracy, bugged NPCs that spam endless amount of mines blasting the line rings reduce the line piracy.

(yes, i've seen enough of those lolduels, where house military with overwhelming force on the field willingly loses a pilot in a duel. ffs.)

I understand the point of this thread from you.
Just...
Log in New York as a pirate and you'll experience it yourself. Being surrounded in about 5-10 minutes by the lawfuls, after you take the lane to pirate some traders, won't really let you play "the roles of pirates".
Maybe you have some skills in pirating a trader in front of the whole Navy Fleet who're looking forward to seeing you destroyed. If you have some come and show/share me.
I tried to make a huge piracy scene in New York just a few days ago... managed to do it so,but only for a few minutes. After locking the whole New York system, blocking almost all the lanes and pirating traders, we got surrounded by LNyess in about 10 minutes. If you mean that I should not have paid any attention to their guns, aimed at us, then you got it wrong.
P.S Instead of logging your Navy-toys and running to us, just to eliminate us, log your transport and encounter us,maybe we are not as bad guys as you consider.
P.S.S I hope you don't mean that the pirate should only get oriented-to-pirate-transports. When a lawful comes and orders you to leave, in case you don't do it so,you gotta shoot him/her back. In that case you're not able to pirate and to defend/shoot back at the same time.
has anyone tried to pirate outside space lolmurrica?, as far as i remember, there was, ALWAYS, bazillions of lolcaps awaiting for the gank, as some peeps morre stated before, we have to reinvent... freighter is your new friend, especially when you can be surrounded, or to prosecute a rabbiting trader now that there's differences in cruise speed (a characteristic barely used in .86 as far as i know) that now makes sense... you can't take so much cargo, i know, but you have more chances getting the trader... not to ment that some freighter have tremendous firepower....
What's fun about JM is that we pirate outside of house space.
There's a lot of abundant targets in places like the taus and the omegas. The best thing is we don't have to deal with the lokwuttery found in house space.
