' Wrote:Just as I said my friend, players will have to rely on armor upgrades. That will also increase the costs of the ships. Having shields is fun, moreover, it also absorbs collision with asteroids, other ships etc..
We currently rely on armor upgrades anyway don't we?
Right but currently the Armor upgrade has no effect on the ships inertia and handeling. by removing the shields there would essentially be no such thing as a light fighter, if you follow the logical path that is and say no shield = lots more armor = heavier ship = poor maneuveribility. I dunno, i guess it would be interesting. I think it would be better suited if if players were flying caps only.

and the cost of such armor would be outrageous considering the Mk8 costs more than the battleship most people put it on. what is it like 800 mil? for a x10 you would have to have max credits to buy.
Remember that in FL caps are giant fighters, you know how your fighter shakes a bit when you take hull damage, imagine that in a fighter 10 times your size... Yeah caps without shields would be horrible to fly and you'd essentially make them useless.
Saint Del is considered a holy healer of diseases of children, but also as a protector of cattle.
And that's why I am saying that, this idea of taking away shield should be dropped out, and yes you can notice that the metal of your ship is being teared off by the shots you take(honestly, the audio is like that) and shakes a lot.
Ships that fly without sheilds through gas pockets/radiation lose all weapons, cm droppers, etc... gets expensive and annoying to fly all the way out to the base that sold em
that said, could be a fun version of a upgraded starflea for pvp events in connecticut... The STARBURNER
Capitals would be useless? Would be good for indie BHG cap whores. Just a thought.
Yeah this is a discussion, subtitle points that out.
If we could somehow get rid of the screen shake for capital ships? Maybe it would be more appealing.
EDIT: @Coin, I was contemplating funding a 'shieldless' PvP event in Connecticut. Would be fun. Rhino Wars much? But yeah, components would be shredded a lot easier. In RP though, people wouldn't really fly through explosive pockets and radiation fields unless it was out of necessity.
