Quote:Blizzard just dropped a massive bomb on the StarCraft 2 community when they announced via the official World of WarCraft site that they are now accepting opt-ins for the StarCraft 2 beta test. To sign up for the beta, you'll need to go to theBeta Profile Settings on Battle.net (or sign-up here for a Battle.net account) and send Blizzard a snapshot of your system specs. The beta is apparently "coming in the months ahead" according to Blizzard, but if you're a StarCraft fan you'd better get the ball rolling now.

It depends on how you look at it. Dennis is right in this respect, Blizzard never did shine in the way of originality. The reason why Blizzard became one of the major game developing companies in our time is because their games are incredibly polished, playable and filled with eye candy, while their developers seem to have no specific deadlines set by the publishers, unlike other companies. But originality and story? Mostly taken off other great works of sci-fi/fantasy it seems.
This is part of what made the original Starcraft great though...it was like a giant parody of the sci-fi genre, but it still managed to turn into a serious game in it's own right, and it was great, Example: All the dropship quotes and quotes from various other Terran units, could be heard at different points throughout the movie "Aliens" and even in Starship Troopers.
Anyway, I have little faith in SC2, but I'll probably buy it for my brother, since his birthday is soon, and that means I'll probably end up playing it anyway..
Actually, I think there was something before it, Herzog Zwei or something like that
Oh, and the "first part" of starcraft 2 still has all 3 teams for multiplayer and skirmish modes, and the Terran campaign is as long as all 3 of the original campaigns (not counting Brood War) put together, so it isn't really that bad a deal
