Considering it was basically godmodded in by the old [MR] faction back when there were no restrictions or standards applied to guard systems, I'd also be pretty pissed off if I was a Corsair and told that this is what I'd done.
It really is just a staggeringly bad piece of writing. There was plenty of justification for the Mollys and Corsairs not to get along without needing to resort to Corkesque shenanigans.
I might have my history wrong but I'm fairly certain that Cork was there before the [MR] were even a faction. Maybe you're thinking of the UOG? or whatever the hell they were called?
