What in case if trader fires back at Pirate then? Freelancer can fulfill his line to protect pirate (edit: during escorting him), in the end destroying the trader?
Kind of pointless, because if Freelancer ID CDs the target, he or she is involved into engagement already. Correct me if I'm wrong.
I'm speaking about Freelancer ID player being hired by Pirate ID player as escort; in short Freelancer hired by Pirate - once Pirate is attacked (no matter if authority or trader), Freelancer must protect him according to the escort rules. That's what I was asking about.
I am not speaking about Freelancer supporting Pirate because of same IFF. I am speaking about Freelancer supporting Pirate on basis of the fact that he is hired by the latter; the escort aids the payer if payer is fired upon.
There seems to be a problem when it comes to terminology.
ALLIES are supposed to be factions that are specifically mentioned in the faction's description. Those are the factions your ID may assist in an existing fight against someone, regardless of who is shooting them.
The question is - why does the Freelancer ID have this line in the first place if the ID lacks any allied factions apart from other freelancers.
For the sake of simplicity, I would suggest that the ID should remain unable to engage in fights unless they are:
-Being attacked
-Want to protect a FL IDed ship
-Are hired by a NON-GENERIC ID under a bounty contract or escort contract
-Are under a bounty contract that is posted on the Forum.
And leave lines such as ''friendly ships'' or ''personal diplomacy'' out of it.

What are you suggesting is making non-generic ID, which are Pirate ID and Miner ID, unable to hire any escort. This also would mean that Freelancer ID trader would be unable to hire Freelancer ID escort.
The problem is, it would make entire point of Freelancer ID very awkward. Not to mention there's indeed such a rule:
Bounty Hunting & Freelancer Hire' Wrote:8. Groups and factions may enter into contracts with governments or entities for flat rate fee payments instead of individual bounties. The flat rate shall be at least 30 million credits, and can be higher. Proof of this payment shall be posted prominently upon the forum, either on the bounty board or in a thread specifically regarding that contract. All acts under such contracts must be posted.
...but it applies ONLY to groups and factions. Only. Not to single Freelancers. Such a thing for individual Freelancers would be pretty nice, instead of normal Bounty Board, given roleplay would be good.

For my understanding: the ones by whom Freelancer was hired.
more, perhaps a fl can pirate a pirate, truely the ID is strange. Only the pirates have this right! I have tried to use some IDs to stop the pirates, but as FL, you can't. Fl ID allow you the choice,
