There is no Sirius system in the game as such. The game developers pretty much just slapped the name 'Sirius Sector' onto the area and left it at that.
Of course, doesn't mean we couldn't put it in.
Though I'd prefer some out-of-Sirius-sector systems instead.

Hmmm... It would be cool if we could integrate a second sector (a while new Nav map) into Freelancer and switch between sectors. It would be a great idea for something like the Phantoms or Nomads...
Eh, personally, I don't think humanity would be dumb enough to do that. I still think that Sigma-19 is Sirius. Sure, sure there are some inconsistencies between that system and real life (the planet, one of the stars being green instead of white), but hey, it's just a game.
I just thought of something. It could be stupid, but...maybe a jump hole could suddenly open up that leads back to the Sol System...

I think the developers just named the freelancer universe the Sirius Sector, because it sounds good. I don't think it has any relevance to actual star systems...

Or on a larger scale, in another sector of the universe.

I fully support the idea of an entirely new sector being inhabited near by, maybe Sirius' resources started waning so they used the DKs' hypergate to travel to a neighbouring sector or something. But I believe this would require the source code.

I know, but I just think it would be fun to fly around the remnants of Sol. There would be a neutron star in the center with a massive asteroid/nebula/radiation field surrounding it and the scarred remains of Pluto with a bunch of Alliance/Coalition wrecks around it. Also, Nomads (and maybe even the superweapon) would be flying around all over the place. It could also create news reports all over Sirius. Imagine walking into a bar and reading the Colony News Service to see a "SOL SYSTEM DESTROYED!!!!!" story with speculation about the Nomads and a day of international mourning.
Also, the Crossfire Mod has done it. There's a Sirius Sector and an Altair Sector that's populated by the Coalition (the Sol System is in that mod too - apparently the developer didn't think the extended intro was canon).

' Wrote:Wait...do we know how far the sector is from Sol? I thought the amount of time traveled in the sleeper ship is generally unknown. Heck maybe the real Sirius is the one that is farther away and the sleeper ships actually ended up at a closer system like Alpha Centauri.
But..the sector..is many systems. each sleeper landed near a different star...
