The practise of putting country affiliations on the char name, appears to be a method of saying, "I don't
speak English, and therefore I don't roleplay."
This of course, is heavily discouraged ...

On Discovery I'm against putting the real life country shorts in your name anywhere. Totally.
I dont care what country you come from as long as you can speak English and can RP.
Even distorted English is ok, at least some people are trying.
But this is one of the things that just breaks RP, AND causes viewers to straight
away make a judgment about them. "Oh your from ______. I guess you dont speak English then."
Stereotypes. we do it automatically.
I'm for ship names, or pilot names. But not country names.
I'd also go so far as I'm against putting your faction name in there also,
but that seems to be a necessity. Unfortunatly.

It often is misunderstood as a faction or group name. Its OORP information about a player on an RP server.. The only tags that should be seen before a name are RP group and faction tags. I don't go around with US- or IN- tags before my name just to say I'm from the U.S., why should I? As Hoodlum said, it seems to be an excuse for 'we can't speak english well/at all, and can't RP.'
There is nothing beneficial from it, and there are negative side-effects. For an idea to be useful, its pros need to outweigh its cons, and in this case, that is not happening.
This is just a mirror of the comments of others in the form of support. OORP player information should be contained to that player and his forum account, should he have one.
How often have we as a community complained over a player or group of players utilising a nationalistic tag such as [RUS] or one of its derivatives?

They get also a "You can't pay ? Then, just die !" (Cause you will see it's mostly the traders in fact) ... And they run incredibly fast for someone who do not speak english.
