A rather wasteful evening. It made her wonder how wasteful it was for Hammond, who had to cross light years to get there. Both her main intentions were shot down. She had expected the Core to be discontent with the uncertainty of the Aland agreement. She then intended to influence the Bretonian government so it would offer the Core a better treaty -- for having a share of the profits, of course. As everyone is moving off of New London, real estate has reached record low prices, and her plan is to buy now, confiding in victory against Gallia, so she would become rich later. But a parliamentarian's salary, even when combined with a lieutenant-commander's, isn't enough for any significant investment.
"Sorry, I happen to be sometimes. I was just making sure if you were truly happy with what you had."
Her face leaped from apologetic to thrilled in a single moment.
"Right, this is done then. To our future friendship?"
She took the glass of whisky and extended it towards Hammond, intending to have a cheer.
Hammond casually banged her glass with his own, took a sip and smiled
-Done, no, I don't think so. I have a whole questionnaire for you, but I'll have to settle with just a few questions. People keep pushing me to build here. Why? What's it to you if we base off a space station, or a battlecruiser or alternatively, a battleship? The end result is the same. There must be something in it for you. As for my satisfaction, I'd say I am quite pleased. Why wouldn't I be? It's been a while since I had a bone to pick with them. Ever since I was forced by my superiors to sign a NAP with them and spare their ships in Delta, I've been looking for alternate ways to get back at 'em for picking the wrong side. Such chances don't present themselves very often. Furthermore, we got got ourselves a Carrier. The tactical advantages that a ship of this class brings to the board in the Omicrons are limitless. It can easily be tucked cozily in a nebula and launch harassment operations from there. Plus, we just might get a spot on Aland if Bretonia doesn't get annihilated and enslaved. As I said, I am a gambling man and these are the best odds I've had in years. Hell, who knows, this might be first step to civilizing the Omegas and permanently establishing the Core as a major player in this sector. But all...
He took another sip, as his mouth began to dry from the monologue.
...all in due time, Ms. Hall. Good things happen to those who wait and plan their every more very, very carefully.
