Because NPCS are not and should not be equal to players! They are computer programs. And another thing: NPCs constantly spawn. Meaning you can't get rid of them. Blow them all to hell and ten more show up. You can't win. Kill players and there are re-engagement rules to prevent them attacking you again. Kill NPCs and more show up.

The argument for NPCs preventing base-camping is voided by the fact that 1: NPCs base-camp (ever been to Toledo? Yeah), 2: Base-camping can be fixed by upping the firepower of the base. This is more suitable than upping the power of NPCs for 2 reasons: 1) NPCs are not always present (when the server is heavily loaded), and 2)NPCs have some of the most ridiculous spawn points ever, even in vanilla.

Liberty Navy patrols regularly penetrate the Badlands, BH patrols engage Corsairs in Crete orbit, Bundschuh and Unioners assault New Berlin...I thought we agreed that camping a hostile base was a bad thing?...

Call me crazy , but personally I think they where better of being strong like in one or two releases ago. Nothing special now , they aren't strong ... no idea why you think they are so imbalanced and RP ruining. Before you say that I only feel that way 'cuz I only fly a Battleship. Think again , I fly 99% fighters/bombers and only one capital ship.

I'll give you a real life example of what I'm saying , today 2 hessians and I engaged a RH Cruiser , aldo my allies died I was left alone to fight the Cruiser , aldo I know I don't have a chance , I wanted to see how the new Thor perfoms ( it's very good btw ) and decided to shoot a bit more at the Cruiser. NPC RM and RFP attacked me in large numbers , plus an NPC Cruiser with GB's patrol. Sure , they took down my shield once , but nothing more. Just dodge and they can't hit you. Not to mention that if you thrust 1/2k away , they completely ignore you.

I like NPC's the way they are now , strong if you make a mistake , but overall not so very tough , yet a bit more challenging.

edit - Forgot to add that I fly a Heavy Cruiser too - Bretonia Gunboat ...

It takes maximum 3 salvos to kill an NPC titan in a BHG Destroyer with Primaries....

This is not very concrete....afaik a transport is not in "danger" from NPCs as long as it follows TLs. Even in gallia it has weapon platforms to protect him.

TO me they add to RP. If I park my Kusari dessie above Leeds, I could laugh at BAF fighters/bombers forever if they don't get proper numbers. Now I have to be very careful that the BS patrols wont blast me. Similar examples are found ton of other places.

NPCs are not "background" either. As global said it wasn't really nice "RP" and helped "enjoyment" if you saw BHG BS in front of Crete and 15 titans couldn't even move its shield.

If you think they are "equal" to players... then you must have been meeting some very bad players recently.

That's a problem yes, over the past few days I have seen the most useless pilots fly caps or other ship in relatively "hard" locations.

"Difficulty" of different areas of sirius is split into different steps and has been so since vanilla. There's always a rather large area for anyone to play in.

If you up firepower of the base enemy ships will NEVER go there. Removing and area where you can rp. Now if both base and NPCs have some firepower enemy ships can go there, provided they shoot down "defending" NPCs as they come.

To come with a nice example... imagine if Stokes had same firepower as 2 BS. Would you ever fight next to it?

Now instead there are BS patrols ever now and then, which 3 bombers can shoot down within 5 mins (if they try off course).

If you think NPCs have ridicolous spawn points point them out. Those that you posted are areas where the "attackers" get blasted by the defenses rather quickly.

NPC's are just fine as they are now. I've experienced all that which Piepguy wrote in his first post and it isn't that bad. You get disrupted in your trader and can't seem to get away? Use the Engine kill trick. Gallic NPC's? They're not so bad. I do around 4-5 High levelled Gallic missions on a day and am up against Funboats and everything below, and my VHF generaly gets out of these missions with a barely depleted torpedo. That's it. (Ofcourse, the GB missions do require a hand or two). Bounty hunter in the omicrons gets ganked? They should if you ask me. The Omicrons are a safehouse to two of the biggest unlawfull factions out there. I wouldn't expect them to throw any less than 500 titans at some one they utterly hate.

They're fine the way they are, realy. Makes perfect sence to me. It shouldn't be ' walk in the park' level.

Voted no. The NPC's should be capable of killing effectively too. It is fine as it is.

I hearby sign the petition, TOME.

The NPC's are a little hard. The nomads seem to have got a bit harder with their shields and stuff. Quite annoying and some of the missions are really difficult. I was taking a mission in the Omegas against the corsairs, it all seemed all fine at first, just destroying a few Titans and then I was confronted with 3 Osirises!! They had shields and Razors I think because I got owned in like 2 shots :(!

It is a balance issue and should be dealt with. And guess how much the mission was for? Only 300K :mellow:

The NPCs are hard yes, but not impossible to beat, but it's hard for the newcomers to start.

The starflier isn't strong enough to survive in the first missions, so unless you're helped or you group, you're screwed.

Though, the only thing that made me lol is when I took a mission with my order character and had to face 4 BH destroyers, They blowed me up the second they saw me, that was so fun.

I should NOT need escorts to take missions in an Outcast Dreadnought.

Therefore, nerf the caps. I like them having the shield, but when they start packing Razors and Mortars with that infinite powerplant of theirs I have an issue. Get rid of the razors and mortars at the very least.

The fighters don't feel that bad to me, really. I can live with them. The Titans feel dangerously overpowered to me, but again, that's a solo Battleship in Eta (AND THERE ARE TOO MANY TITAN NPCS VERSUS SABRES. DID WE NOT HAVE THIS DISCUSSION LAST VERSION). The bombers are worrisome, but again, they're supposed to make a lasting impression, even the NPCs, so I suppose there's nothing wrong with that.

I haven't experienced this transport hell people are talking about, either.

So, I voted yes, but not everything.

First off.. NPCS are in no way equal to players... they dodge like ****e and don't regen like players. So you can with fair ease kill them very fast and even take their bots faster than they kill you.

Only ships vulnerable to them are large ships with poor aim. And whoever has problems with that should train their aim in a fighter first...
