FROM: High Elder Eurico Rivera, Coundil of Elders TO: All Corsair Commanders
Proud Warriors of Crete,
First and foremost, I am pleased that so many renowned Corsairs refuse to turn a blind eye to our Imperio's troubles. Our path has never been easy; we’ve faced overwhelming enemy forces on every front. Crete would have fallen long ago if we had been as weak as the rest. Our withdrawal from the Dresden system is unfortunate, but as long as we deny our enemies a clear prize, their victory will be tainted by the memory of all those men and women they lost to defend their system. They may have won this battle, but the war is far from over.
Señor Gutierrez, regarding your suggestion to send partial reinforcements from both bases: splitting our forces will do us no good. Disjointed, poorly integrated units won’t be effective, and we would only weaken our positions while likely losing the Penitence in the process.
Señorita Munez and Señor Cornelius, taking the treacherous route through the Omegas is simply out of the question for the Penitence. The Red Hessians and their Coalition henchmen swarm that region. Even though traversing the Sigmas won’t be a walk in the park, it’s still safer than the alternative.
Lastly, Señor Insigne and Elder Buonocore, what transpired in Omicron Theta was the inevitable outcome of a conflict that had simmered for decades. The Zoners, despite our objections and warnings, welcomed Bounty Hunters onto their Freeport - hunters who murdered our sons and daughters for credits. These Zoners, who supplied them with provisions, repaired their ships and restocked their ammunition, were nothing but accomplices. It was only a matter of time before enough outraged fathers joined the Council to respond to this audacity with due force.
After considering everything I’ve heard, the Council has chosen to send ships from Petra Base to aid the Penitence. I am proud of those who will do whatever is necessary to bring our valiant warriors home. They deserve a chance to rest and see their families before we ready ourselves for the next campaign.
High Elder Eurico Rivera
Council of Elders, Planet Crete
Elder Rivera.
I hope you have made the best decision, I personally see great danger in running our ships through the Sigmas, yes the Hessians and Coalition lie in wait in Omega-11 and Omega-5, but does not the GMG, Outcasts, Core and all the other vultures who would seek to benefit off our escape also lie in wait? Why not work with the Black Sails and Cadiz to break through Omega-5, we can even reinforce this attack with our ships at Petra. Surely that will be enough to, if not save the Penitence, destroy the Hessian front in Omega-5, with forces pouring in from all over the Imperio.
Still, this is all of little significance, you have made your decision and I imagine the choice is final. I will also go personally to assist the escape, I want to ensure that the fools who seek to oppose our destiny lose 10 gallons of blood for every drop of Cretan blood that is spilled.
