Ok--here is an updated pic. I am doing a little tweaking and cleanup. For the record, the entire thing--with detachable trellis is smaller all around than a patriot. I'll upload more angles and things when I am done.
One question, though:
Can it actually fly through minefields? (This obviously requires a skilled pilot.)
(I'm not sure if it includes flying through the more open space at the exact vertical middle of the field or not.)

Hmmmm, well, that really depends on whether mine detention is determined by distance from the closest part of the hitbox or from some predefined point on the ship.
But you could achieve the ability to fly through minefields by putting on a big shield, no weapons for balnce, and making it very maneuverable. Also I believe the mine runners function by flying through narrow passages in a field that had to be mapped, no just anywhere, so im sure that could be made to factor into it.
Are they going to be different versions of a CSV for different houses?
I'm not concerned about design. Thats a matter of taste. I'm rather concerned about quality of geometrical assemblance, skin and correct cmp's to avoid bugs and issues.

AoM
I have a much simplified version (not as pretty as the above) which I think will work out ok.
They aren't really "CSVs"--this would be the Junker ships that slipped through the minefields for the monarchy in Gallia. Junker agents would have needed to get in and out to make reports and bring samples back.
As to piloting though the mines...it states there were able to go through small secret areas in the minefields--not just fly between standard placements (though this ship would be almost able to).
I think all houses could have ships like this for infiltration and spying but they would be so dangerous that most would not produce many of them or have many pilots trained in their use.
Factions that really could use them would be terrorist and criminal (including the Junkers). Xenos and Gaians slipping into fortified areas would always be a concern--even the Coalition or Wild might implement them.
I'm not very successful at exporting textures so far so these will be mostly borrowed. I am getting a fair idea of what works and doesn't though. These ships would be very simple and low profile. Simple textures will work.
It would be fun to make "X-boats" for Bretonia, "Kaitens" for Kusari and the like but I'll start with the "Junker" one first and see how it goes. If we make them for terrorists, we can replace the cargo pods with bomb or mine looking ordinance underneath. I have an idea of something neat but would need help for that so maybe later.
I may actually make a "Sliver"--a ship that can actually be piloted though minefields--might be fun for exploring things. Maybe one day they will have a cool base that can only be reached that way or a really tiny jump gate;)
Well, i think you already got the experience to know, which concepts might work and which not and i wont limit concepts ideas, but throw in my comments and concerns.
The quality i mentioned is something, the model creators, including me, mostly spent time to their own models.
There wasn't a general quality assurance. The result are still unsolved issues. Many of them in a cosmetical way, but also some in a gameplay way. Most impoortant of all was the use of unaltered vanilla Freelancer textures, but creating an extra mat file and not using existing vanilla mat files, wasting mod file size for no reason. The mod could be some Mb smaller than it is.
Just to give you a closer look onto my major concerns.
So if i can help you with a model, throw me a line.
