Lowering cruise speed in the mod would allow Cruise Disruptors to do their job better.
As it is, the max speed on CDs(as with other missiles) is 350 even if it's rated at more than double that.

Lowering cruise speed won't work. the problem with CD's is some of them affect certain items. The hard part is getting the CDs to affect hitboxes of certain sizes.

Most capships need a CD hit in the side to knock them out of cruise. With cruise speed at 350 it's very difficult to get a hit. If cruise speed were a little lower there would be a possibilty of knocking them out of cruise.

If following close enough while in cruise it would also be possible for the pursuer to drop out of cruise and fire CDs...and have a chance of hitting.

I'm not saying it's a perfect solution but it might be better than how it is at the moment.

Aye, it seems that the NPC's are the only one that can knock me out of cruise anymore. If the CD speed could be upped, that would be even better. Or, as has been debated before, we could make it take longer to enter cruise.

Well, the main problem is the CDs not working as they should. People know they can't be disrupted, so they abuse the tactic. Furthermore, in order to stand any chance at doing any serious damage to anything larger than a gunboat, you need two novas. With the latest tendency of using batts/bots, it's even more annoying.
Also, in the last few months it never happened to me that I be engaged by a same class (ie VHF) that I fly. I've been engaged only by Battleships/frigates/cruisers/gunboats (eventual Rh Bomber and that was only shooting the novas) in a 1v1 fight. I'm really beginning to think I start equipping only to win and start terrorizing the entire server, no RP, no warnings, just pure pwnage!!!!

Ant, its not just difficult to hit ships already at cruise with a CD. Its impossible, unless your in front of them. The CD goes about 320m/s, I've tested it, Engine killing doesn't even speed it up like it should. Making you have to shoot them before their engine is up. Problem is, you don't know its coming up until its about 60% finished already.

CDs can't really be counted on to stop a ship, especially in combat where you are likely being shot at by others.

@Nightfall; Same here. Its Bomber after bomber after bomber. It used to be half of what I fought were bombers, now its 2/3 of what If fight is bombers. People just go for the biggest and the best. Disregarding their pvp even to do so. No pirate should have a bomber. There is an RH Bomber, then a mor civilian one, the Taiidan. Terrorists and Pirate-aligned factions really shouldn't use them. But you can't blame them too much, because all the lawfuls use are big giant capships. Before bombers it was just battleships. Only factions I saw using fighters at all was NovaPG, RM, some BSG, and AW. Everyone else, were using mostly capships. Now its mostly BSG, SA, and AW using fighters. I haven't seen any RM or NovaPG on, but I've not been to active either.

@WolfPack; The problem isn't that they cannot hit. We have Train disrupters that work on Trains and GBs, battleship disrupters work on all ships they hit, even battleships. The problem really is the speeds. Cruise is faster than cruise disrupter.

Dab, i agree on all points except for the BS CD. I've shot it from 500m and it will hit the BS in the engine and it doesnt even disrupt it. I've found better luck with trains. At least thet disrupt everything they hit. (mostly)

About the fighter issue... I admit i have been using my capships and bomber a lot more than a fighter. It is a bit out of RP... I'd really like for there to be house bombers. I know it's a lot of work to model a ship, but it would fix a lot of problems. People criticize me for using a RH bomber, they say its out of RP. There's not a Liberty bomber

Think about it though. Rheinland is siding with Kusari in this fight, so wouldn't they provide pirates against Liberty and Bretonia with ships? Just an idea. Also, the SF and RM alliance, at least i feel, is out of RP. Bretonia is against Kusari, and Rheinland is siding with them.

Sorry guys, we don't have models for any other bombers right now, and chances are very low that we are going to get any. I can either add same model with different specs, or don't add any bombers.

Btw, remember that bombers are going to become weaker, so fewer people will use it.

I am working on new models, if you are interested in using them, fantastic. They will probably not get done for your next release but maybe a patch? Don't know. Anywho, look in the DEVELOPERS FORUM for more on the new ship models and how they are coming along.
