Aye, the Legionare definitely has the agility. I also read somewhere it can thrust over 200 in spurts, but maybe that was a bug. But you'd be struggling with only 4 guns and no torp.
(In the vanilla, I did the Bretonia campaigns in a Clydesdale. All that h-fuel lying around....)
In the end I stuck with the Barracuda. I found Anubis only a bit better strength-wise, yet in terms of agility Barracuda runs rings around it. Anubis is a big fat target against those Nomads.
With Disco there are a couple more low-level ships to try out in the campaign, although they may be impossible to obtain (rep-wise), I haven't really tried myself.
@Commodore: Heh I've not heard of that nerf point! Thx.
Sorry off topic..... where were we again?
EDIT: Forgot to mention.... about the voices, yeah many of us agree that different accents would be narley. And it is possible by inserting in your own sound bites. But it would be a sh*t-load of work getting them all.... http://discoverygc.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=2137
... You really do have a point there about the Barracuda vs the Anubis. The bloody thing's brick-like physics (at least it wasn't a Freighter) really did make dogfighting difficult. The Barracuda, on the other hand, handled like a dream and could still dish out punishment.
As for campaign and rep-wise... I've spent ages without progressing the story before- Juni can wait a surprisingly long time for Trent, it seems. She must really like him.
I even managed to make my way back into Liberty space from Bretonia and get to where Xenos were (Texas being the easiest to reach, working out of Beaumont there), and make the Liberty authorities not want to shoot me on-sight in no time. Would be even easier from Kusari space, thanks to the Xenos being based right in the Independent Worlds between Kusari and Liberty.
While I was still kinda in Liberty space during the Bretonia segment, I got 'the call' from Juni, and made the long trek back to Leeds. It was somewhat amusing. And the New York-Magellan gate is a very convenient shortcut.
When I recently replayed the game using that 1.4 patch, I actually had enough funds on me after the Nomad defeat to make me a level 32 right away, once the campaign level restrictions had been lifted and I sold all my extra loot. Though that may have been the Level 10 guns I looted off the ancient battlefield wreckages in Sigma-13. From that war... 80-Years War. But, anyway, those Iron Hammers fetched a mighty fine price and made me a wealthy man during the Kusari segment. Those wreckages aren't all that hard to find and get to, and they make you damn rich right quick.
As for the voices... yeah. Sh*t-load of work. But if it can be done...
I also saw some things about non-Lancer ships being in the mod, and I have to agree with some of what I read. Y-Wing in this game? What the hell? And the suggestion that added ships should build off of the established Lancer designs, for the most part, and just basically preserve that 'Lancer feel' ... Like that 'Rogue Cruiser' in New York (Heuegenot or something?). What, exactly, is a Hiigaran Battlecruiser doing in Liberty? I suppose so long as it's a placeholder, that's fine. But if that's what's meant to be there...
EDIT: Also, if I can help with any of this, I'd love to. I have a bit of training with 3ds max and photoshop, and I might be able to adapt to whatever programs are used for FreeLancer modelling. I have a fighter design I made during my 3ds max classes for my own concept idea. Uses default textures, but I don't think it looks too bad.

*Wonders if he should remake his storyline-help thread.*
The storyline isn't busted, just alot more difficult. Takes an experienced and skilled pilot to beat it.
Guys, there are tricks in every mission to help you get through them.
*Cough* Spoilers!
For Strangecase.. Best advice is to UPGRADE from Crusader before going out of Kusari. You should be in nothing short of a Barracuda or Dragon with torpedos.
A simple trick to helping you kill those cursed bot/batters of storyline, is to use starkiller torpedoes. Make sure that when you take the shield, its staying down, not getting batted. Then pop a torp into them, no botting from them, and your able to get those yourself.
The fleet in Tau-29, the trick to in and out. You fly in, pop a fighter or take a chunk of hull off one of the gunboats, and fly out. You don't have to worry about Juni, or Razor-1, they are invincible. Let them get most of the heat while you take potshots.
The Tekagi's Arch mission, ignore the battleship and destroyer. Go after the gunboat if you wish, sometimes it will chase you. Leave the fighters alone except for the first pass. Do as much damage as you can to them as you make your way to the Arch. Blow the 4 shield generators with torps and hull-hurting guns as fast as you can, and then dock. After that its all just to get through the blockade that Juni comes and attacks, and to head to Kyoto.
Sigma-13 mission. Much the same as the Tau-29. Kill the fighters, then just dodge. Stay close to out-of-range and duck back in every once in awhile to shoot at the BS until they tell you to head to New Berlin.
Frankfurt Shipyard mission. Ignore all defenders. The Bundschuh will deal with them. Take out one of the Nomad battleships ASAP and then the one guy will suicide the station. After that, hurry your arse out of there.
When you meet with the Osiris, use it as a shield against any turrets shooting at you from the RH BS (most should just focus on the Osiris) popping up occasionally to shoot at it.
Heh. Some pretty good advice. Sounds about how I handled things, in some parts (and in the others, I'll make sure to pay attention).
I've basically made my current ship (Patriot) armed with a pair of Adv. Starbeams on the forward mounts for their efficiency, with a Scorpion (salvaged off a Xenos, of course) and an Adv. Stunpulse on the two further-back forward mounts to tear through shielding like it was tissue paper. Often enough, there's a field of extra batts and bots left behind for me to collect. Before this mod, I had absolutely no good reason to use the Shieldbuster weapons. Now, I very much do. They have a definite need, now.
As for that fighter design... well, I found where I uploaded the pics.
Well, I looked over the stats, and, honestly, the Adv. Starbeams are more efficient damage-to-energy than the Justice series. Maybe Barragers are good, though, but so far, the Starbeams are looking like the most efficient mainguns that still keep range and fire rate.
And I'd prefer a Dagger - which won't take too long to get at this rate. (EDIT: At which point, I may likely be getting Drails and Badariels. Hehehehee)

Hm. True. But I'm still using the Adv models. Until I have the level and the ship to support better guns (which will either be the Drails or the Barragers paired with some sort of Pulse gun to keep shieldbusting a nobrainer).
I oughta go and finish off the Ashcroft mission, around now, actually. And finally get my Dagger.
Funny how Storyline mission kills don't actually affect your Reputation. I can kill all the Rogues I want in a Storyline mission, and the real Rogues won't start hating me again when the mission's over, unless there was a universal Reputation redefining. Which pisses me the hell off when it happens. I shoot down alot of Xenos to get friendly status with people. I'd like to avoid killing more than I have to.
