People will tell you all kinds of things, and most of what you read on these forums is biased and not perfectly objective. I advise you to speak to many different people and eventually make up your own opinions.

That being said, players on Discovery will continue to shake your paradigms, so more important than anything is to keep an open mind.

You are very welcome to our community, mod, and servers. I hope you will enjoy your time here and improve this place in your own way, if just a little bit.

And the Corsairs are not all lolwuts, just most of us are (almost all of them are independant, i dont believe i am however), though if you can RP, and want to be surrounded by people who can, dont join the corsairs. The few who can RP are constantly trying to thump it into the thick skulls of those who cant (in a nicer way than that though).

Also, the OPG arent lolwut 2milrdai pirates, though a lot of people will say they are, its just because they are good at piracy and cost a lot of people a lot of money.

I only pirated about 5 times while I was here, but the OPG does have a bad reputation... you could try The Brotherhood.

Also there is nothing stopping you from being an independent Corsair

Instead of trying to snare you into my favorite playerfaction i'll give you some handy advice:

Don't join a liberty faction, liberty is overpopulated and a lot ob bad RP habits spawn there, as most new people who negelect joining the forums hang around there "lolwuting"

i reccomend joining a bretonian faction, it's fairly Newb-friendly and has a lot of good factions.

I could reccomend joining the RFP, but i get more PVP in the RFP than on any of my characters, not good for a new person, but if you want a good future RP experiance the offer stands.
