See, that's the thing. I didn't try anything. I'm picking up on what seems to me to have been a one-sided fight halfway through (or close to the end, I'm not sure). Charges were filed without me ever being informed (I called Marcel nine kinds of stupid for saying that after the fact, trust me), this whole thing has been me standing back kind of shocked at how things are going. Joe can continue with the court case whenever he comes around, I'm a bit too frustrated for it. I've had this headache that's been getting worse ever since I got home... and this isn't helping.
Matter of fact, Disco as a whole isn't helping. Forums are going off, see most of you tomorrow. Maybe.
Someone did try something though, and it was run with. Maybe independent battleship captains will be kept on a tighter leash now, I don't know.
I'm pretty sure I put a post in somewhere saying that instead of debating him, they'd have been better off launching a smear campaign and calling him gay or something.
As it stands, a court case only gives Citizen Katz the oxygen of publicity, something key to political media.
I'll use the 'P-word' though. Powergame. Seems everyone's at it with this little doozey of a story. Yue, the SCRA, the LRF with their nice little bomb, all sorts of stuff is going down with this one, and it's not all good. not by a long way.
I'll admit I didn't know it was going on until the whole thing was well under way, and it kinda caught me blindsided. I yelled for an hour at Adrian and Alvin, and vented anf felt better. Then I watched while I didn't have the time to do anything as the whole story, from what could have been a promising start, decended into sheer utter loonacy all because it was left as open RP and people just can help but take what power they see. hell, sometimes there wasn't even a vacuum to fill. Hilarious.
I'm tired too. I'm tired of gunboats sitting with LN npc pilots saying "Katz told me so. Attacking LN doesn't make me an enemy of Liberty". I'm fed up of hearing the word 'corrupt'. I get to hear that word as often as an outcast gets to hear the word 'scum' in gamma anyway without some backyard revoltion happening in a place I literally cannot send people to, due to what happens if I ignore new york for more than three minutes. What with the outcasts, corsairs, order, random pirates, RM, god knows what else, all trying to tag the traders...
Is it something I don't want to be happening any more? Probably.
I was angry at first, then I accepted the story was gunna happen and came up with some RP ideas. I didn't have time to execute them right away so I ended up watching as all the sense was drained out of the story and it became a massive heap of lolwut. Then I found myself just getting tired and frustrated and now I finally have time to have any input on it whatsoever, there is already some bomb planted on Toronto and the whole system is apparently rioting. Although to be honest I've only actually seen two people in the system ever (exageration). But practicality never was included in roleplay was it.
Not entirely a bad plan, to be fair, since we all know we can't alter the mod's basic storyline, base ownership etc etc. We all know that the status quo will be maintained when it's all said and done. But that's metagaming.;)
Well... Katz can't run. That's been declared. So now I can just ignore this.
I'll also say that while this could have brought out some awesome RP, it didn't It could have been infinately more awesome if the faction leaders that mattered had known from the start, and the roleplay hadn't been left as an open thread for anyone for so long.
The various threads revolving around this brought out some of the worst in people's RP. Frankly Yue, I was disgusted by your post (if you read this). I was even more horrified when it just carried on, and I'm really rather annoyed about the bomb sat on Toronto station.
That said, I suppose you live and learn. Or you live and don't learn...

This is perhaps a good idea, and perhaps a bad idea.
For one, it locks out the vast majority of players from the game, locking in RP to an elite few people like you, myself, Zelot, Zapp, Blodo, Dieter and the other few people who are at the high end in several factions. Sure, it (arguably) keeps quality up, but it prevents new players growing. We may as well password the server at this rate. The 200 player slots isn't faction-leaders only.
As for Katz being unable to run, that's not been decided, since there is arguments to the contrary, what with him being Liberty born, and Ontario not having been occupied for ten years, making a loophole in its constitution. Even if there wasn't a loophole, altering a state's constitution is still possible. There is also our backup plan of having a candidate by proxy, something which has been done in the past, getting someone who can legally run for governor to run as an obvious proxy for Katz.
I apologize to Zapp and Joe for blindsiding them and posting. I got anxious after seeing the thread go one sided for too long. Honestly, had no idea anything was being worked on at that time.
I take full responsibility for that mess up. Hopefully it didn't make their work too much more difficult.. =/
Iâll carry this flag
To the grave if I must
Because itâs flag that I love
And a flag that I trust
