I think you (ryoken) have two areas of misunderstanding here.
First off - clans versus factions. We don't have clans on DiscoGC. In fact, we tend to discourage clans, due to their behavior. We have official, authorized factions that have met a standard of role-play and paid their monies to become, if not the, then at least a, group that can represent the npc faction in the game. (For example, the [LN] is the official faction representing the Liberty Navy. People who are not official faction members can name their ships LNS or some variation - but they are NOT allowed to use the [LN] naming convention.) Also, official factions have certain rights that non-faction members simply do not have. I suggest you go do some background reading in the faction section of this forum for more on this.
And the second is ship naming. When you're dealing with capital ships - destroyers, cruiesrs, carriers, etc - modern navies use a certan naming convention. Those of us in game do the same with our ships. For example, my BHG|Core battleship captain is named Max DeVirgo (who also happens to be one of the guildmasters). His ship is named the BHG|Core-Athena, after his (in-RP, of course) deceased wife. Many people in the LN have ships named not after where they specifically live, but in naming conventions simiar to what the US does today - thus, an LN-New.York or LN-St.Louis would certainly be following the regular convention. What is NOT allowed is to put CRO- or RUS- or FR- somewhere in the name of your ship, when those letters a) do not represent any official faction on this server and b) violate the naming rules by showing nationality. It would be the same if I made a ship named LNS-Indiana[US] - that would be against the already established rules here.
That last of mine is one other thing - this isn't a rule that we just enacted to delete some characters. This has been a rule here for a long time. And people were given plenty of warning that their ships were going to be deleted. Just as Dusty did a while back going through and deleting ships named inappropriately - notice was given and things happened. Ignore the rules and there are consequences.
(One of my favorites is my signature gnomes - if you're online when I see a violation, I send you a PM to correct it immediately or I will. If you're not, then I feed the gnomes and send you a notice that your signature was found to be in violation and the gnomes have eaten it.)
