I dock my ship and type /renameme bertandErnies.Big.Ship
What I wanted was Bert.And.Ernies.Big.Ship
The original name change cost me money.
I can now chnage the name provided I don't undock prior to retyping the command. And I won't be charged for subsequent renames.
The moment I undock the timer kicks in and I must wait seven days to rename and the next rename will cost the original amount.
If this is the case I'll direct Cannon to this thread and he can see if it's feasible.
Because it still retains the purpose of the 7 day time limit, which was more than stopping pirates it was also stopping rule breakers changing their names and forcing the Admins to hunt through reams of logs just to discover who they were.

Even if that is not what he said, even though to the best of my knowledge it is, Cannon should still be re-directed to this thread, to see whether this is possible.

Consider it confirmed.

I haven't been able to do this (more accurately, I can't be bothered getting it right), however I have made the following change:
The time limit doesn't take effect until after 5 minutes have passed from the last /renameme. If you make a mistake you can use /renameme again as long as it is within 5 minutes of the previous /renameme. You will be charged for this subsequent rename but at least you can do it.
