Once your DNA mutates you no longer can give it up. You need it like water or food, and if you don't get it, you die. In short - you can't have possitive effects of cardmine without having it's negative ones.
Also it doesn't make you sterile, only less fertile. Well a lot less.
I say go for it. Pay an excellent biotechnician to keep you alive. There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio... When people will tell you 'You should be dead!' than you look on them slowly and sadly saying 'Yes I should be.' Of course only if they do it inrp, you can always ignore ooc for sure.
You know when people say it's impossible that means 'realy unlikely'.

Not gonna see an Admin ruling on this? Its a storyline thing as i see it and as a side point to this however, i looked it up for my story before i was an admin and at the time i found a number of RP stories where other players have done this. Allowing for some variables is nice - We can generalise on the effects of a chemical, but anyone who knows will tell you people react to chemicals often with individual reactions/responses that cannot be predicted or that fall within a general diagnosis.

So what you're saying is.... yes it's possible, yes it's probable, and yes it's allowed?
No one will sanction you for that.. if that's what are you asking. It might be weird.. people will say things mostly oorp sometimes but.. should be easy to ignore and continue story.

I mean okay, if one side of community thinks that Cardamine messes up your DNA and makes you a permanent slave, and other part of community thinks that you can get off it with a good story, can we make everything possible if a story is good?
because hell... then furries come in. then immortality kicks in as well. What about endless clones of your own body, allowing you to die a lot, and thus giving you the right to get in a new ship instantly? :/

While i can claim that a pilot of my trader cannot access the Neural Net and pay the pirate because he just works there, others can ague that neural net is simple as 1,2,3.
I'd like to know the correct things before we all start writing our own.
As Laowai has said, it's an RP thing, and there are many, many different variations in people and the way they react to things. Just because generally cardi mutates you and if you're off it, kills you, doesn't mean that out of umpteen billion people, that there are not exceptions.
Real life examples - they gave me a standard anti-nausea drug when I was on my chemo that was used in basically all cases on in-patient chemo. Turns out I'm allergic to the anti-nausea drug, and it made me violently (projectile vomiting type) sick - within literally seconds of it hitting my bloodstream. My wife takes a single 25 mg dose of benadryl for poison ivy, she's very quickly out cold for 24 hours. I take 125 mg dose of benadryl for poison ivy, I get sleepy in a couple of hours.
Mutations can and do occur also - perhaps your character had a genetic mutation such that he was already not very susceptible to cardi, such that when he got off of it, his body was able to repair the damage. Just makes him rare, darned near unique - doesn't make it impossible.
On RP things like this, you'll find that we (admins) aren't going to do much interference as long as it doesn't interfere with either the main storyline or game play. (In other words, no saying that suddenly you have a character that can think all Nomads dead, or that you're suddenly the Bizarro Superman and can use your heat vision to vaporize planets and space ships.) If it DOES need special attention, then bring it to our attention. Otherwise, go have fun.
