That freighter looks great, it doesn't fit the Renzu line, though. The Renzu ships are agressively angular and they have lots of bits that are offcenter, including weapons placements. That looks more like a small gull type than the Renzu lines.
I really don't think the CSE or Anki need updates. They are on par with the CSF and Bactrian, not as nice as either, but close. They also look nice. The CSE looks like a pill bug (Giant Killerpillar ftw!) and the Anki looks like a Mafic made love to the IMG. There are other ship lines that could use attention, IMO.
Maybe we could use that freighter to replace the rhino and grizzly. Those things are hideous looking.
Don't touch my Rhino! It's awesome as it is, leave it or buff it!

the spike is meant to be a sensor - so it can navigate through perilous space more easily and safer.
IMG Gas freighter?
IMG isn't involved into gas mining.
Anyway, yes from me, it's better then those homeworld imports.
' Wrote:oh - hmm - then maybe the thing doom made is a gmg gasfreighter? - i never associated doom with gmg....
in that case - it makes no sense to have another "three bubble transport"
If you mean the Atlas, than that thing is 100% not a gas miner. It's an odd design, but its definitely a transport.Of general cargo.
And the skeleton looking things that connect the bubbles on the gmg don't really look like they can keep the mass together.
It does look like it has too many engines for a freighter, but the overall design is love.
@Maelstrom
The renzu shipline, if I'm not mistaking, were made by Legeonation, who hasn't been around for years. The models were made before the "no imports era", thus the reason they do not fit with the rest of the ships, who turned more or less towards the vanilla look.
The GMG freighter is the same as the GMG transport. It fits the line.

It doesn't really matter why the line was designed the way it was. What matters is that it has it's own distinct personality, now, that distinguishes it from the pack and we shouldn't take that away. If we want to update it's mesh a little, hey, that's fine. I think other ship lines could use the effort more, but it's Jinx's effort put forth, not mine. I just think we should stay with the personality and style that the ship line has. We don't want all the ships to end up looking like slightly different versions of each other and that model looks an awful lot like a scaled down gull type ship.
Fine, replace them. Lets keep thier style though. I reiterate, lets not make every ship a clone of the next. For that model, drop the engine pods on the back off the model. That is a liberty train design. Instead, give it the sideways hammerhead that sticks up above and below the cargo pod that the Anki has now. Then drop the wing off the top front and add, instead, a low comms pod there or something. We especially want to keep a similar weapons placement with all eight firing forward.
' Wrote:Hey Guys,
Why? That is what defines the ship line. You want to FIX the personality out of the shipline? Why don't we do that to all the ship lines? We can fix the CSF to look like the Kusari lines. Then we can fix the Correo to look like the rhineland lines. /facepalm
I'm not against updating ship looks, I just think we should keep thier styles the same. I also think we should concentrate on other ship lines rather than the civillian ones. They are some of the best performing and looking ships already.
The current renzu line is an import line and imports are bad. They look horrendous and don't fit the Freelancer style.
A way a lone a last a loved a long the riverrun, past Eve and Adam's, from swerve of shore to bend of bay,
brings us by a commodius vicus of recirculation back to Howth Castle and Environs.

First, if they are imports lets make our own versions then, I have no problem with that. Second, they look horrendous is subjective. I happen to like how they look. Third, they do fit the freelancer style, look at the Mafic, Basalt, Partisan, Dacite, Insurgent, Waran, and the Storm. All those ships are blocky and aggresively angled. The real difference is the asymetry from what I can tell. And that's good. We want differences in our ships. If I just wanted three or four different styles I would have stuck with vanilla.
In fact, all those imports are from the same games as the Renzu ships.
Coalition ships aren't anything like the Renzu ships, as far as I can tell, and being designed by the Coalition should stand out considerably compared to other ships. Oh and they're being changed in the next version anyway.
The Waran's really the only ship you've listed that supports your case.
