Raynor did NOT just hang back with the Protoss to sooth his soul. Remember the last Protoss mission in the original starcraft, the one with Raynor, and all his men? Also, the world that was burned to a crisp was Chau Sara. Also, he does hate Mengsk, he rescued him because he had to, they needed Mengsk. I will give you one thing though, kerrigan did fight the zerg in space, but really, it was a scenery change, so who gives a crap?
All I see here is people complaining about how the second game wasn't exactly like the first game so it's automatically crap. Also, if you recall from the first starcraft, it took an expansion pack and about a year of patches to get the mix evened out, so if you expect SC2 to be completely balanced after a couple days of being released, you are balls to the wall insane, and if you think the first StarCraft was moreso balanced when it came out, you are simply wrong. (And Tenacity, if you really say Blizzard did care at all why did they do so many delays and put in so many small details? They even bought the rights to "Sweet Home Alabama" for StarCraft II just to have it in a jukebox in Mission Briefings. EA would not do that. Activision would not do that.)
And there are guest keys for battlenet, which you can find in the box you got StarCraft II in, assuming you didn't pirate it. They can be used for LAN. (And you can play without being connected to BNet, you just have to log in to get to the main menu, then all the offline play you want)
If you think Bioware is the only gaming company to tell a good story you obviously don't like playing games, but watching them.
Oh lord. I didn't say it's a bad game, I've not tried it yet, I'm just saying the things I heard about it. Don't call me an idiot. You can correct me, of course, since I am obviously operating on hearsay. But don't insult me.
Furthermore, I'm a BioWare fanboy, don't go there. I swear to god I will crucify you. Right where you stand.
"Things will not calm down, Daniel Jackson. They will, in fact, calm up."
I did indeed find out that Mar Sara was burned, but did you know the Ice planet Braxis was too? Yet we saw people there. Also, the reason that Raynor (and the kel-morian combine) are there, is because after the purification was over, and it became a hospitable place, the way the protoss burned the rocks made them extremely valuable, and raynor needs money to keep up his mercanaires.
and if you really care if Sarah Kerrigan was in space above tarsonis, or on the ground, then a whole lot of other things should be bothering you. (Like why does raynor have hair?)
EDIT: Sorry Aquilia, didn't mean to call you an idiot. (The ones who I think are idiots are Tenacity and Reptile)

/signed :D Made my day with that one, Politus.
You spoke reasonably, Xelgion, but there is one thing I do disagree with. You mentioned that we shouldn't expect SC2 to be balanced because it was just released and it would take some time for expansions and patches to work out the kinks. (I'm paraphrasing, and if I interpreted wrong, please let me know). I feel as though, with the amount of work and time that went into SC2 (your example of purchasing the rights to "Sweet Home Alabama" is a testament itself) why should we, the consumers, automatically expect that a game still needs polish even after it's release? Shouldn't it be polished right out of the box? I understand fixes need to be made (game developers can never anticipate the strategies of the gamers) but shouldn't the final product be at least 90% polished. Hell, it's not like they had a problem delaying the game a couple times before. :P
I haven't bought the game yet and I plan on checking out some trusted reviews before I do, but judging by the responses here and elsewhere, Blizzard failed to amaze. Maybe it's unfair because Blizzard is held to a higher standard, but that standard was raised for a reason. Maybe it was unfair expectations or too much commericial hype. *shrug*
Hmm. Didn't Char always been a lava planet anyway? Mar Sara was burned to ashes, sure, though I don't really expect it to become second Char, you know. Just a smell of napalm in the mornin' to remind of the past.
Anyhow, I don't care about that stupid bickering. Blizzard folks do "adjust" their games lore from time to time. Just like Metzen once said there would be no infested [cut spoiler]... But you know, it's their right to do whatever they please with their lore, it's their baby and if they feel it is necessary to retcon something or do some fixes in it - they sure can.
Also, for those who haven't bought one and deciding - don't listen to all those bitchin' wankers here and out. It's a good game. Like any game it has own flaws, sure, but it's good nonetheless. For me it came out as I expected it to be, so I'm a happy customer and I'm not into any of those "fanboi/hatists" camps. I don't go praising their games just because it's Blizzard and neither do I go whinefest about 1/3 campaign and other stuff. I see what I see and what I see - I like it. My only complaint - lack of LAN and that's it. But if you imagine the game to be "The Ideal Game EVAH", well, let's just say one got exaggerated expectations, grand self-made illusions, and when it turns out not meeting the impossible expectations...
Have a sensible approach, expect what is realistically can be expected, not the PR hype, Blizz rabid fanbois and similarly rabid hatists. It's a game. It ain't jesus second coming.
Me, well, I like the game. A lot. And it's editor... Ah hell, don't get me started on that sweet little thing, ho ho...
The problem is not the polish, but the fact that it isn't perfect when it comes out of the box. Now, they cannot release a game to be perfect, someone WILL find an unbeatable strategy (6-pooling anyone?), and they will need to balance it. Blizzard should have to take heat for what every single RTS in existence does. (Not being perfectly balanced).
And yes, I feel people are holding blizzard to a higher standard because of the years they spent patching StarCraft, making it into a perfectly balanced game. But the game does not need more polish, it just needs to get a few tweaks which you get from the free patches.

Very cool game, just finished the campaign (~13h on hard ^^) and the game kept me entertained untill the end.
I dunno why some guys are hating it so much, I've found everything interesting, always interacted with everything I could between the missions...
The missions have all been interesting and fun to play, what I especially liked is the efforts from blizzard to make thems all different with varied objectives.
Time for some skirmish and multiplayer ! I hope the multiplayer changed a bit since the beta.
