i've noticed this also.
i sat behind an NPC cruiser for atleast 2-5 minutes firing non stop with my destroyer...and i may have barely taken it's armor down 1/3.
Smuggling was supposed to be profitable....Long routs, but very profitable ones...it takes ages to get to New York...maby 20 minutes to get there, and you sell your Cardimine for a mere 2500 a piece. How profitable :dry:
Cardimine should sell it NY for like 4000 a picece in my opinion. maby a little less but no less then 3000. :cool:

I don't see the trade lanes disruptions as so big problem.... when I take my whale from NB to Colorado... that's some 14TLs usually i get some 3-5 distruptions....
@Archelon well as I already said somewhere else it should make a difference where you fight, it's not a PVP arena it's RP server.
But I agree that NPC capships and some fighters too, have incredibly strong hull - I posted this also in the shield thread but:
22 supernova hits to kill a Cruiser/Destroyr, 88+ Supernova hits to kill a BS.
That's crazy... I know it prevents NPC farming but...... I say NPC capships should get shields like player ones and get the armor down to player-like level.

Low-level NPCs got a downgrade in this version (they have less bats/bots to use). As for NPC AI, some enhancements made for beta 4 were already reverted in beta 5. They caused server errors. However, it's true that NPCs aim better now, top-level ones in particular (fighters, not capships).
Trade lane disruption frequency was never changed.
About capships - I wonder why no one reported the issue before. I'll be downgrading the armor upgrades used for NPC capital ship patrols. Also, in certain places I"ll reduce spawning frequency. However, it's impossible to eliminate the 3 BS patrols probability, since it's randomly generated.
Can you specify particular places where there should be less capital ship NPCs?
I cannot specify the place exactly. It is the mass of BS encounters. The only place i can specify, wher absolutely no BS encounter should be, is around Battleship Stations.
I have only a small knowledge in system modding and don't know if a lesser number of encounters is to manage.
If it would just be me, i would say no BS encounters within the house systems. Only Cruiser encounters, but they should be tough against Player capships.
House Pirate NPC's. They are a hard challenge for beginners. As soon as i had the Camara, they were balanced. Now i have Transport with 5 class 7 turrets lvl 4 and they were becoming canonfodder only.
I have no experience with NPC's in the Borderworlds.

I think NPC cruisers don't have the firepower to get down a BS shield.. maybe not even a cruiser shield.

Would that be possible to lower the number of low level npcs especially those in house systems and replace them with a few number of advanced ones. They could be really annoying sometimes and cause lag in large battles. Like instead of heaving 30-50 patriots or crusaders in a system, having 10-15 guardians and some avengers or some templars maybe. And maybe put a very few amount of bomber npcs to some of the guard systems so that people would not be able to farm there with capital ships. Just an idea of course..Not sure if this sounds reasonable or not..

Sorry about that Igiss, i noticed the armor deal in Beta 4 and never got around to posting..my fault.
as for NPC BS patrols. i jumped into Texas from Bering which imediately spawned a cruiser and 2 GB at the jumpgate. the way i think about it is this: unless a house is at war or close to one then the capship patrols should be limited to bases (though hostilities between liberty and rheinland are going on so that might explain it) Although....now that i think about it, "capital" systems like New London, New Berlin, New Tokyo, etc, etc should have capship patrols through out the system....i mean this is the main system for that house...it should be overly safe IMO
