They stopped supporting FL in April 2008 when they shut down their GLS.

are you trying to mod an already modded freelancer, i.e. you cant install a mod if discovery already on it

all mods are best done on a clean install of FL

there is a post somewhere where a player managed to install fl, copy whole folder somewhere, mod the original install then mod a different one on the copied folder so it is possible to have more than one mod but NOT in the same game folder

FL Crossfire is no problemo... you just did something wrong during the installation, probably you didnt erased everything from previous FL (savegames,directories...etc ... it needs a clean installation):)

I have installed it last month on 3 different PC's! On every single one it worked well.

Ok, we need at least 4 bombers and 4 fighters. Minimum. No gunboats, no scyllas, they'll just get lolganked by the nubs in caps.
