IMO, LSF should have Alaska. This server's Alaska is far too welcoming. Back when the Conneticut gate was removed, people where clamouring for the route between Omecron systems and NY to be cut, so people started using the old routes. Failed? I think so.
When smuggling, I, out of choice to enhance RP decided never to use Alaska as a means of bringing Artefacts into NY. Result; I'm targeted by Hackers, Rogues, LSF and SA, and I make 2/3 of the profit over time. But, this is better, because I'm sticking to a role, rather than smuggling through Liberty's top secret no-entry prison system.
Make Ontario a guard system, and the only way to get across from California to Colorado (if you're a pirate) is to cruise the whole way across California to the Texas hole, cruise some 60-70k to the NY hole, into the badlands, then Cruise all the way to the Colorado hole on the other side of the system ("far"?). Meanwhile, oorp traders and smugglers continue to use Alaska. If Ontario is to become a lawful system, rather than an unlawful gateway, please please please give us a California->New York jumphole.
Make Alaska a guard system, and that damn route will finally be cut. Stick large numbers of powerful guard-aligned weapons platforms at the Gate, and around all Liberty facilities in the system.
This way, traders and smugglers wont survive when trying to take this route. Instead, the only people able to enter Alaska without being shot at will be strictly Liberty-aligned. No platforms at the Minor jumphole will allow the Order to continue to attack the system.
Carlos, my hat is off to you. I also concur with your idea of a California-New York jumphole, which would make smuggling a wee bit easier for us BLS, instead of going through the lawful gate. Maybe somewhere in the Pittsburgh field, to add a little variety to that field o' junk?
Also, if the LSF Guard system must be there, I really think the name should be changed to something that's American. Calling an American house's system after a Canadian state seems peculiar when you have dozens of US states to choose from.
Or just remove all the guard systems, including the empty ones. I really don't see how, everyone else can have a guard system that doesn't need it. But when i say we are getting a system everyone goes nuts.
Here are some of the reasons why i wanted a guard system
A place for operations, maybe have a reasearch lab there for nomad studies, i dunno. Yes one single base could do it.. ubt thats not what i really want right now.
Something for my members to work hard for and earn. What if i said we wanted to buy Minnesota?
A place for training.
I don't want a heavily guarded system, i want maybe 1 or 2 wep platforms 2 bases and 3 patrols, away from the jumpholes. Not a uber shipyard or one base with 15 wep platforms. Sealing off a system was never my intentions. I wouldn't really deny access to it, the bases would be in clouds with asteroids.
If there isn't a reason for us to have a system, please give me reason why zoners should have a guard system, or navy should have a guard system? Because i see no reasons.. Some, maybe yes they have a reason. Others? no
Alaska seems a natural. In additional to the reasons posted earlier, this location has worked well for the LSF on other mods. They do need a secret research station in there as well.
ok how about makeing connecticut the LSF guard system, just move the JH in NY a few k away from the Trade lane and make a the JH/JG in connecticut to alaska (never got why it was removed) but giv cnnecticut a make over no one is useing the system never seening someone useing it and i have never used it....
Kurosaki....the LSF and SA regularly use Conneticut for training. The Alaska gate was removed because it allowed people to do trade routes from Liberty to Omecron systems that had no RP value whatsoever. (It was decided that Traders shouldnt be marching through a Secret Liberty system, the Order home system, and nomad infested space regularly, like was happening).
Removing that Gate was supposed to stop the route from being so commonly used, but IMO it was a complete failiure. People just use the other jumpgate, and I firmly believe another measure should be taken to stop people using Alaska as a highway. (Guard-aligned turrets, etc).
Sniper, I'm sorry you're feeling unfairly treated, but the fact is, most people aren't against you having a guard system, and I'm sure we all feel you should have it as heavily guarded as you like.
I just think that, as it stands, Ontario is an important part of the smuggling routes, and there are no reasonsable alternatives to using it other than Alsaka (if you're an artefact smuggler).
The LSF has the power and potential to do allot of good for RP if they put their guard system in a beneficial place rather than one that severely damages unlawfuls' ability to move in Liberty.
Take a look at the ideas that have been put forward and decide if you like any of them. I think LSF definitely deserves a guard system, but I think you should put careful consideration into placing yours where it can enhance role-play between lawfuls, traders and criminals.
Im all for finding another system, i was thinking Minnesota, stated in my previous post. Does anyone have a problem with that? because ive seen one person in that system during my entire time here at disco ( about 6 months)
