As a member and leader of the Flying Tigers Faction, I assure you all that the diplomatic section will be updated (adjusted) as need be. The situation in regards to members being restricted to one faction follows us from from our past. We do not say that members of the Flying Tigers can not have independent characters just that we require that our members not be in other factions i.e. dedicated to the Flying Tigers. We are only excercising the right under Discovery rule 2.1. We do have the five members required to form a faction. Not sure where you get we only have 2 unless that is all you saw on the server today. I personaly have 2 characters with NCC and awaiting for name change. It takes awhile to get the characters with new tags. We (The FTS members) are reading everyones replies here in this thread and will take everything in consideration.
i have it from your faction status (only first two position have a char name,other are empty)
3) Leader should post faction information to an admin. You may send your goals, roleplay alignment and all other information you find important. The more the better. You may announce recruiting when it is passed. As soon as you'll get at least 5 members from different accounts, your group becomes a faction.
so you can have 4 characters,when you have them on 1 account, it is as 1 member.
and i have nothign again this faction,i only ask and i am wondered.
Commander
We have five (5) members. The founders of our faction are holding the ranks indicated. The other ranks will be given as members join the faction. Said in another way: Some of the five members we have hold the same rank which is consistent with accepted practices of a military rank structure...
So....members can't be in any other faction, and their indy chars can't pirate or act in an otherwise hostile manner towards any other Flying Tigers? Am I seriously reading this right? Seems kinda counterintuitive for me at least, though it apparently makes perfect sense to some...it was like that at Freeworlds, but this is a very different place.
I do also have a question about ship choices. If you want Bret ships, the Challenger is quite a good bomber, better than the Havoc in my opinion (and I've flown both). And this is not a criticism, just a curious question: why use BAF ships instead of civilian? Yeah, Bowex is the sole supplier of the BAF, but in-game they still fly civvy ships. Again, just wondering what prompted the choice. (the civilian line is, with the exception of the Griffin and Civ bomber, superior to its BAF counterparts anyway:P)
You do realize that, as a trading faction with a very limited scope in what you can do, that this still drops your recruitment basis to very near zero?

And the thing is, it also limits the possible member base to people who haven't yet joined a faction, or who don't mind quitting whatever other factions they're already in. Feels kinda discriminatory. It IS possible to be a dedicated player and RPer in more than one faction; I know several people that do it quite well.

And a copy/paste of Disco Server Rule 2.1 :
Quote:2.1 Following actions are considered cheating on server:
- Using non-Discovery mods, speed-related and loot-related mods especially, as well as using modifications that improve stats of items and ships;
- Changing account information and using any kinds of software that changes normal gameplay;
- Using any equipment not included for sale/looting in Discovery mod, cloaks for example;
- Using equipment that exceeds ship specs;
- Cloning, e.g. creating new characters to collect starting money.
Keep in mind that maximum allowed cruise speed in Discovery is 350, with higher speed possible only when catching up with a group.
So, someone explain to me what rule 2.1 has to do with limiting membership, because I don't get it, and I don't like feeling stupid.:rtfm:
