And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how the Empire wastes an entire colony's resource worth (not to mention the manpower in construction and personnel) in something that can still be destroyed by a single well placed explosive device. And someone still wonders why the Empire did fall.

Because they all instantly give up when 1 wrinkled old fart dies, rather than just go 'meh, Piet takes command now, keel!'
The end of the star wars movies is kinda crap. Seeing as the empire is defeated the moment the emperor dies. I mean, there's like a ton of generals and commanders and admirals still alive, but nooooo....
It's like those extermely incovinient evil lares that somehow always decide to cave in and come to bits as soon as its evil occupant dies. What gives?

If you were to make automatic turrets on all of the slots after the point where the game doesnt let you control them yourself (possible) It could become a nice lil defense platform...
The Empire used to kick ass, but then it took an arrow to the knee? <-see? I can do it too!
By the way i would totally freak out when i'd saw a planet sized ship on disco... It would generate more rage than a BHG ID Barge filled with nomad Brains in Minor...
Get it?
I think with the Barge we reached (and exceeded) whats practical and reasonable in terms of gameplay.

The empire doesn't just give up when the emperor dies--read the books. I think the original TIE Fighter game might also have touched on what the empire was doing post-Endor...
