Interesting... I think I am going to jump in my bomber and get a cap with flaks to shoot at me a bit to see that. Perhaps I should get some flaks then. Thanks, and sorry for barging in on this thread:-)

Isn't the projectile speed a bit low on flaks?

So what about the Solaris Gattling? Anyone tried them?

Most skilled bomber pilots tend to keep the distance, but will have to come close to fire a snac. You can sink them if you manage to get just a few decent shots at them with secondaries when they come in close, whereas you don't deal much damage with the gatlings (and also have a shorter range), making it easier for the bomber to do hit and runs.

EDIT: Plus with secondaries you have something to fight a good gunboat captain. I only spent a few hours with the gatlings, but got ganked by a group of corsairs, including a cau viii gunboat, who kept dodging my primaries and didnt really care about the hits he was getting from the gatlings.

Solaris Gatling is crap. You're better off with regular Solies. The spread on the Gatlings ruins it.

Well i use a mix of Solaris, and Solaris Gatling turrets.. 2/4 on my Liberty dread. Just awesome when a bomber get into the fire of them in nearly 3-5 secs are shilds offline and hull is damaged. I also can stop with them other Missles like BS missels. I'm verry pleased with them.

flaks are cool, but you really need to know how to aim them properly if you want to use them...

personally i just gave up using them as well, most of my fights been in asteroid fields, where such guns is just a joke.

Another great thing is that 3-4 flaks to the hull might not KILL a bomber if he uses nanos, but he wont have any guns left either, or thruster for that matter.... Flaks simply tear off ANYTHING mount on your ship.

EDIT: i tried the gatlings.... i could hardly do missions with them..... I prefer the "old" solaris, the 4.0 one as its quite good. But i might just change to secondaries as their more efficient against caps

I noticed that it's possible to evade flaks as well as secondaries by simple boxing at a range as close as 750. Heavier guns as well. That was odd. My ship was a Pelican.

Solaris gatling has the most ridiculous aim of all weapons. Don't use it, seriously. I had hard time hitting even freighters that are 500m away when I was trying out stuff in SP.

So Solaris gatlings are out, then.

Back to secondaries and Flaks, then. I'm ok using all secondaries, but if I mix them with flaks, won't the difference in projectile speed render one or the other useless?

Cheers.
