Why would you do that anyway? What a freakin' waste of money. The merc is supposed to help strong-arm the trader into cooperating, after which he gets a cut of the booty. There's a proper way and an improper way to do it.

Congratulations on missing the point.
Maybe the pirate doesn't need booty? Maybe he's got plenty and just wants to see cargo floating in space and a blue message? There are perfectly valid inRP reasons for just wanting to blow people up, not rob them.
This may come as a shock to you, but your way is not the "proper way" and all other ways are not "improper." There's no "right" way to RP.

Problem?
The problem with this scenario is that it removes 6.6 from the picture by not giving the transport a choice. If you demand all cargo, at least the trader has a choice. Not much of one, but still a choice.
My point stands that you cannot bounty someone in game. If an admin wants to disagree and tell me the above scenario is ok, then I think I have a new character to create...
