No it doesnt. Because the forums have a much bigger
role for role play and sorting things out that the game does.
If you cut off discussion and feedback then no-one learns and no-one gets better.
And I agree with Elg.
Admins and mods, if you are going to lock any thread please give a brief reason why.
Xoria did in one of the threads mentioned, however there was no warning or indication
in the other two.

At least, after they've considered it enough to be willing to risk 500 Million Credits to actually give it a shot.
However, I am confused as to why no feedback has been directed at the faction posts of HGL, OPG, and a few other faction possibles.
If the problem is that these factions lack the 500 mil in payment, the thread should be locked, and an explanation given. No one should just be made to suffer in denial of knowledge for so long.
I am very fond of the admins we have here, and am sure that there is some other reason there has been no response. Being unable to find this reason, however, I am forced to say that I find this unacceptable.
I am currently waitlisted at my top-choice college. I know how painful the wait can be, especially when your college gives you no response, whatsoever. It is much worse than receiving a "yes" or even a "no." It's real-life, it's more important than Discovery, and it's not a pleasant experience. But the it's not too different from Discovery either. I think that the faction leaders who slaved over their faction requests and answered barrages of questions with their time should at least deserve an answer, even if it is a "no."
Sorry I picked yours to jump off of but you had the most info I agree with and can use. Whats the point of paying 500 million. Admin hasnt held up their end of the bargin and, now they lock down noobie faction threads. Why not just give the folks you like a password and lock the whole server or, are we outsiders here just to play the "smart"NPCs, which is why we must stick to NPC configurations and factions and dare not venture into new ground.
I may have missed it but it seems that since the 500 million "deal was put up, I have seen no new factions put into place. Heck does anyone who hasn't had a faction before that know what a official denial or acceptance even looks like?
500 million? Scam, if you ask me I'd rather have my money back. Its appearent that only insiders that get to scyp with admins get what they want. Admin was quick for the 500 million but cant give the detailed responce they promised so, a player can work into the community.
I say forget the officail crap. We are forgotten, on that level. All thier friends have factions and therefore they even have thier own.
I find it real hard to believe that RP was just SO GOOD back in the good old days. I'd like to see the old factions jump through the same hoops. Lets do some server house cleaning and redo all factions. Everyone send in the same junk.
I for one have not seen any RP with most of the officail approved "good" factions yet. It's more like this is a novelist club with ships to fly, than a role playing game. Most RP is done on forums, and I've seen a growing number of "books" being written.
If you know the out come and how many "chapters" are in it already then you NOT roleplaying. Your writeing a book. Which means you either ignore what happens in game, which means your ooRP, which means your sanctionable.
Or you ignore whats happening in your story and play according to your tag and ID an otherwise lifeless character with no life off the forums.
At least these folk want to get community feedback, are we so ungrateful of new comers, that we delete thier threads, make demands and do not follow through with our own end?
Man, I know how you feel, but I can't agree with you there...
They've started the faction requests again, Xoria has been reading through them, and if one is good enough, forwards it for admin consideration. So they HAVE started again.
Can't blame the admins, there was only Hoodlum and Caylith, and now it seems Hoodlum is inactive too..
Ayup to what Mule said about the restarting the process. Us HGL (or now IG) have recently gotten a notice about consideration. So, once they get through the backlog of the older ones, they'll get to the newer ones, like the harveys.
As for the 500mil? Doesn't really matter. Trev posted our faction request a few days before it, and we've had to wait til now.
We've all waited this long, what is a wee bit longer?

Well I know I for one have nearly given up. I am only sticking around now to see what is done in the next version. If there is a player wipe that would be perfect. I have to say though, I still feel like a sucker paying them 500 million, then being in Limbo long enough to scatter and flame every action we took without the protection of officail status. For example, if we were official we(unnamed to avoid shamelss publicity) could restrict all homeworld ships. I wouldn't do that, though. I'm just giveing one of the examples of high handedness I could have and get away with if I were officail. Since I have the RP posted to support it.
However I've never been one to restrict in games. Has a single person gotten a responce yet? Officially? I have unofficailly but, what good is that?
Some people pay thier dues for certain respects and priviledges, and when they aren't reciprocated then it causes bitterness. Exspecially while being pushed around by the "established" untill your idea is nothing like what it was supposed to be and you are in a watered down version of thier plans.
The officials have gotten a wee bit power hungry... But I've been saying that for a while now.
Best part is, the Liberty people restrict Zoner stuff in their systems yet don't care about the 15 BH BC's floating around Manhattan at any one time. Let's evaluate, shall we?
You should trust:
A - Pacifists
B - People who would bomb the shizazzle out of your planet if paid enough.
If you answered B, you're a member of the SA or LSF!
If you answered A, you're wrong and now KOS'd by the SA or LSF for having a logical opinion!

I want to clarify why I wrote that. And this is just my personal view of life, so dont take it as a flame. I am all
about communication. I find that if someone deletes my posts with no explanation, it really upsets me. So in
my role as leader of whatever I am leading at that time... I always give a little explanation. It helps for them
to understand WHY I did something. I believe it also treats them with respect. It treats them as people, whose
opinion is valued, even if incorrectly informed or whatever.
I am all about communication. I hope that people would have noticed that in my posts. I love discussion.
I stir things up so that people really speak their mind. I can still respect someone with whom I disagree.
We are a community with lots of opinions, and if a new person OR an old hand says something that will help
make this community better, I believe that is only a good thing. But in order to be heard, the muzzle needs
to be taken off.
When Mods or Admins delete posts without an explanation, I feel muzzled and I hate it. I never use that word
lightly. I feel disrespected as a community member and ignored. I've had this happen to me a few times lately.
All I'm asking for when I ask for a (1 or 2 minute typing time) short explanation, is the same respect that I
give out to other human beings. That kind of contact really helps me to connect with the Mods and Admins.
I like being connected to other people.
This is the same stance I have towards Mods and Admins locking threads without giving an explanation.
I was going to post a reply to Magoo!'s post just above...but I went away and cooled down. The only thing I
will say is this. I think that your post was unnecessary and downright rude. They have lots on their plate. Remember folks, that the Admins have RL to deal with FIRST AND FOREMOST. FL is all of our beloved
game, but it still is...Just a game.

Actually for most of my character based stories I write as I do things, more often than not I write a few months behind my in game actions. The only "book" I'm wriitng has nothing to do with Discovery and is an alternate time line story.
Secondly I know my LR are RPing they provide me with screenshots to proove it.
Thirdly the LR and the XA got official status not because we are in with the Admins but becasue our factions were directly linked to existing NPC factions, filling in the blanks as it were. Thusly they were easy to reject or accept. The same goes for most of the accepted factions before the 500million bond and after the Admin only faction approvals system.
Yes recently there has been a hiatus on Faction approvals, but I highly doubt it's becasue the Admins are happy with what's out there. Disco is and always has been about the people that play it. The Admins facilitate this. If we want an IMG faction and we think it's good enough, then they will consider it, when they have the time. It seems that time is limited for them at the moment. Patience, even though you have exercised plenty so far, is still a virtue.
