What I gather from reading what everyone wrote here is this:
a person RPing as a pirate does not enjoy being chased by ten LN ships
A person RPing a navy or LSF ship does not enjoy fighting ten pirate bombers alone.
What can we learn from this? What can we do to make this game more fun for everyone? Do we even care about making it more fun for everyone or are we just doing what we want for ourselves?
Well, honestly the Liberty Navy [LN], is (or at least was recently), the single most active military player faction on Disco, but I understand what you're saying, and the simple answer is basically as Hone said.
People don't always feel like playing a certain type of character, sometimes somebody would rather play their smuggler or pirate than their lawful character, sometimes they'd rather play a Freelancer, so on and so forth.
And when lawful factions -are- around, sometimes they're unable to deal with the 'Common pirate' issues, because they're already involved in dealing with other things.
The folks playing in factions, play those factions out of a desire and interest to play whatever role their faction exists for, but you have to remember, they're also playing to have fun as well.

yet i dont get it why it is so so hate when a new person wants to join a faction. hmm...maybe its just me thinking like this but...numbers are somehow talking for themselves.

I made a couple Navy characters just to try and combat the pirate infestation but there are so many that it is futile and it really makes it hard to enjoy this game for me. since at peak times I get ganked by 5 or more at a time. Where the hell is [LN]?
Also, it seems that the Liberty lawful characters only help when they feel like it which seems like serious OORP to me. I just logged off as there were 10 outcast bombers in new york and I asked some LSF and a navy character for some assistance to try and drive them out and there was no response. They just sat and hovered over norfolk like they always do. Anyway, are the LN, LPI, LSF dead on this server? Does everyone make pirates now?
There is a LOT of [LN] around. And since I play 99% only as a pirate, i know there are alot of them. Like you i also get ganked sometimes... well [LN] don't gank.... Its just the indies that do
And the norfork thing? Yea that's why i quit being a lawful. Too boring
So to answer the question. No they are not dead, they are just no always around on the server
or they are just hiding behind their cap ships and don't feel like coming to take care of 10 bombers cause that's suicide

I'm not really sure what you're saying here, or why you directed it at my post?
But what faction hates when new people want to join? That doesn't make sense.
As someone who has been playing around on an indie LPI I think much of the problem stems from the fact that any and all LR having access to heavy ships such as gunboats. It's kind of detrimental to RP (IMO) when you see a LR gunboat pirate 20k from Manhattan. Such a thing would of course attract the attention of LN and they would be there in 2 minutes sharp, but of course a lot of the times the LN simply don't have a presence in NY (apart from NPC's who don't react to that kind of stuff).
Now, I would love to do something about this gunboat, but with my little Liberator the best thing I can do is trying to notify traders who are about to go on the trade lane that there are pirates active in the system. Often traders will ask me why the hell I am not doing anything, and the simple answer is that I can't.
We also have those times when pirates in heavy ships just fly around Manhattan avoiding all gunfire from the NPC's and bases while trolling police like me who can't do anything about it with my smaller ship. Kind of detrimental to RP on this part as well. I guess because I am new to the server and all I don't have access to all the proper channels for calling in backup etc, but then again I am sure that many, many indie LPI and Navy players don't either.
LPI typically flies only libs. LR is used to gank, so they fly GB's and bombers and the Scylla a lot.
This in turn draws the lawful indies, who have gleaming LABC's and dreads.
LR gets the indie gank squad, decides to make indie alt....profit.
Pretty soon you've got a bunch've people sitting in nice navy caps who go "Oh, well, the gank happened to me." as they open up.
On that same token, when rogues are just in snubs, the caps know they can't get a kill. So, to balance this out, they often pick on a few lawful snubs and engage in 6v2 combat (example number)
At this point, the snubs are having panic attacks and cry for help. But nobody listens, because they don't want to leave the safety of the cap.
[LN] Themselves I have never seen gank, they tend to get pretty miffed if the indies show up to escalate a fight into a gank. They're the honorable PVP faction of liberty, compared to what I've seen occur with some of us untagged folk.
Also keep in mind, lawful ID gets a lot more leeway. They basically have the law on their side, and luckily for them, they choose when they have to follow it.
Well, thats why you should become a zoner, neutral to all ( expect gallia ) and with zoner tech you can blast everything if you are being challenged.
1 thing about LN, they camp in norfolk just to show presence, as new-york is rarley being raided or pirated, i see most pirates in Cali - Magellan ( Don't forget that the rogues have a base right next to minor ) because this way OC and Rogues can refill/resupply, and have a safe place to go.
I still think the LN are a joke ( no mean to offend ) but doing missions in alaska against order pilots for money while ignoring their responsibilites.. call me ignorant, thats lame.
[LN] are really active , trust me , and some of them are extreme when it comes to lawful duties and PvP combat ....and don't say LR have easy access to big ships! Say Rogues or Pirates not LR ....if you see a lot of LR big ships that's a raid on NY,and all that big ships are fly by Aces,Veterans,Underbosses and the Boos and that's not something you can see every day ...Tho it's true that there is a lot of pirating going around and the funny thing is there is even some pirates that pirate other pirates coz there is not enough traders-miners going around to satisfy their needs!
Like Govedo13 said make a pirate and you will see exactly how much the lawful's are active
