Sorry for that, but lots of newbies and, worse, "old" player doesn't even look to know there are rules...
And, about first point, I totally agree, Welcome here !
OK for gentle RP, OK for gentle PvP too. What do you prefer ?

I will second Jihad Joe's point reagrding factions, they exist to collect a group of characters together for better organisation and the ability to call upon the aid of each other. It can also aid you in the making of friends within the Disco community, I for one would not know as many folks as I do were it not for being a faction member.
Certain Factions to start out with (Owing to ease of integration).
If you are intending on a stay in Liberty I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the LPI for your lawful needs, very newbie friendly and although they have strict rules on RP, it is a very alternative RP, spend an hour in New York with the LPI online and you'll see what I mean.
Unlawful wise I'm going to toot my own horn here and suggest the LR, we don't get the best ships, but we do get plenty of action.
Bretonia has it's share of newbie friendly factions. The QCRF are notoriusly member hungry and very helpful toward new members and equally players.
For the flipside and the unlawful side of the fence, well Bretonia's lacking somewhat in active unlawfuls but I'm sure I m rdy would be only pleased to help a newbie join the NLH.
Kusari is again plenty popular recently and has the odd distiction of having some very lwful unlawfuls. Zelot's AFA are very well run and in partnership with the equally good KNF keep those damned dirty Corsairs at bay, most of the time.
Rheinland, ah sweet fascist Rheinland. Rheinland Military are of course the lawful group to mention here. Proud, aggressive and extremely militant in their handling of the law according to the Chancellor.
The RHA's activity waxes and wanes but when it's at full bore they surely do give the rM something to chew on.
Of course in the Borderworlds there exist many factions aligned with both the outcasts and the Corsairs. The extremely newbie friendly RoS is always a good bet for the Outcasts and the TBH for the Corsairs. Both will aid you well.
(For those factions I haven't mentioned, don't be offended this was supposed to be brief)
Finally do not be afraid to go Indy if that's where your road lies. An Independent's life is not so filled with ship restrictions and ranks and general red tape as a faction members. Although do be aware that flying some capships may get you in trouble.
All in all, enjoy your stay, I hope it's a long one.
Appendix to the aboce post: Abbreviations.

Saint Del is considered a holy healer of diseases of children, but also as a protector of cattle.
Just go check "faction status" ALL agreed factions are here, with links to their recruitment office...
And, about independant, As Del said, take care, some ships are really reserved to factions (most caps), and some others are in trouble 'cause nobody sees or accept any restriction in their use... (Raven's Talon and Raven's claw).
Edit : sorry for beeing like that, but these things kills server's fun on RP, and better safe than sorry.
OK for gentle RP, OK for gentle PvP too. What do you prefer ?

Ahoy Wushu! Welcome aboard, hope you have a great time here:)
I hope the stuff said here too hasn't frightened you off.... some people can be overly serious and down right rude. You don't have to join a faction, although there are certain advantages of course. Just take it at your own pace, and above all have fun.
(oh and certain people, I am disgusted with your attitude... this is a welcome thread for chrissake)
Any Q's, most people would be happy to help you out:)
Meant to apologise earlier. Things came up and I didn't have time to type out my response. If there's anything incorrect please let me know and I will rectify my response. Same message applies to those who PM-ed me regarding my post in this thread.
Thank you everyone for the welcomes and advice, all is constructive to me as i really dont want to step on anyones toes so to speak, I do feel a little lost in the game atm, lots of things for me to do, from thinking of a backgroup RP story to reading, and re-reading the rules..plus additionally trying to learn the game.
Atm I am flying around in some BH bucket of bolts with 35 cargo space mining in colorado to earn a little cash...I hope this is ok for now, I have tried to equip the craft with bretonian/BH weapons but i am not sure if they are correct, plus they bluebells seem a little weak, but fits with me being a civie for now i guess.
I am sure as time passes and i become more comftable with the game and RPing as a whole ill come out of my shell a little bit more.
Don't try to do too much too far, first, get some money... Then think about your RP and Then buy equipment... No problem on what you said for me...
OK for gentle RP, OK for gentle PvP too. What do you prefer ?
