They were somewhat inactive, which is why they didn't open with everybody else's during the Sair/Cast split. Then they break apart from the Hispania due to broken connections/Hispania systems ejecting it/etc. Then the pods sends out an SOS and they get picked up

If we are discussing the likelyhood of this idea being feasable.
Well the odds are against the poor little pod surviving for this long drifting though space let alone surviving the first few years.

But I don't see why you would let a little thing like that get in the way of a chance for a good RP character.
