Motors for those cars sell for $500 if you search well enough.
However, both those engines are bulletproof. I've seen them run 10psi boost (I know, turbo-ing a FWD from a physics side is weird) with no problem. I would honestly say someone was on the 7.5k redline or past it for a while, because the oil pump failing is not a regular thing at all.

Thats old? Dam i drive a 98 Honda Civic. Then again it also only has 121 000KMs on it.
May have just been a defective part. Had a 79 Pontiac Lemans that had a defective oil pump from new, that dealership never could diagnose until the engine siezed up at 100K. Pump would kick in and out on its own, until 1 -45C day it just went poof trying to pump almost solid oil.

If you find locating an engine impossible in your country, I can find you several in minutes here that you can take a look at if you like?
Was there any other damage when the con-rod came out? IE loom; gearbox; cooling system?
Perth, Australia is where I'm at.
No other damage, just a big hole in either side of the block.
@ Nooblet;
The motor in question is an 18L (L18e)
@Sterlin;
Second hand Japanese vehicles are outstanding value for money and some of the Japanese cars made for import seem to be almost bulletproof in some respects.
My current car is a 1995 Lancer Executive.
As far as I know the engine hasn't been touched, except for routine maintenance and it still starts first time every time.
