I am a huge fan of Star Trek, but not a good idea to start this sensitive topic on a forum full of space sci fi thingie fans...
I think Agmen just heated it up a bit... C'mon SW fans, we are ready and waiting...
Star Trek is awful, over-reliance on magic to solve everything--oh no the hero is about to get shot by the villain! whoosh! beamed out just in time! saved by magic again! It's comic book stuff.
But its better than the Star Wars muppet movies. Come on, we got a whole franchise built around science fiction with fuzzy puppets instead of science fiction.
Being a Star Wars fan, I can still tolerate and even enjoy every other franchise (in this case Star Trek). So I won't even join the ignorant (and eternal) "discussion" about measuring other peoples taste, because that's just kinda silly and close-minded in my opinion.
Or to answer the question: Not a fan, but Star Trek is okay for me.
I'm currently watching Voyager on the TV, one of the channels down here is so hard up for programs that they are showing an episode of Voyager mon-fri during the day, then showing three episodes back to back on friday.
The ones during the day are in order, the ones on friday night are in order too....further along in the series.
Same channel has recently started playing Deep Space Nine on thursday nights, 3 episodes back to back.
I have to say though, the only reason I watch Voyager and DS9 is for the ladies!
Joking, but they are pretty nice.
I too love 'em both. Star Wars a little more than Star Trek but it's like choosing between space apples & space oranges.
I remember the day I 1st saw Star Wars like my parents remember the day JFK was killed. There ain't nothin' in the world like the memory of watching that flick in a first-run theatre on opening weekend. At the time, Star Trek was just reruns you watched after school while waiting for Batman reruns to come on. Kinda cool, but cheesy. Then Star Wars happened.
It literally changed the world in a week. There's no words I know that can describe it. It was the first of it's kind & I was lucky enough to be there while it happened. My memories are segregated into things that happened before the summer of '77 & things that happened after.
Star Trek wasn't worth squat till Khan, & even then, I mostly liked it just because it had Mr. Roarke from Fantasy Island coppin' 'tude.

So you prefer a communist future created by those evil united nations in the heart of liberal SanFran future capital of the world to Reaganomic Realisms?
Another reason why star trek is better than star wars is it more real life? Sure there are some aliens likes Q etc but how the ship's engine works its awesome! (Sure you have to invent warp stuff etc) But after you take that in everything is so real like! It has some (made up but still cool) Equations in some episodes that seem real. Star wars has nothing like that...
The broken [img] tag in your sig was bugging me.
So I fixed the tag but decided to leave this note here to bug you back. ~ ae
