The Talarca Cruiser is a rare ship built by one of the private ship-building companies of Kusari. Origins of the Talarca remains unknown; some say it's based upon an early Kusari gunboat prototype, some assume that it was constructed by ancient alien race. Classified between gunboats and cruisers, the Talarca is an efficient and cheap capital ship, often used by freelancers of both lawful and unlawful alignment.
It is sold in two places, Mito, and Planet Honshu, it is a cruiser for independnts(non-military) and unlawfuls on both sides in Kusari.
However, if the Talacra is going to be replaced, I think I'll miss it. It just fits those harvesters so well; it's wings look like solar panels, and it looks so robotic.
It'd be great to see a rare and exclusive robot ship somewhere in the game.:)
' Wrote:Ah, thanks Michael. Still don't get it. Why sell the ship on both sides of the law:mellow:
"Private Shipbuilder" doesn't really say who it is, could be some small corporation, not Kishiro or Samura, but that has good relations with both, that way it could be sold to either side. Also it says often used by freelancers, so they could be sold to anyone by that rational.
if people like the talarca as it is - i can as well suggest to replace at least one of the battlestars with it - that would make it a small zoner / civi BB ( pointless really, but who cares much )
or suggest to give it as a destroyer to the GMG ( who have warship turrets but no warships ) - i d scale it down to something like the BHG ship to fit their idea of rather fast and agile ships in the dense nebulae. - it doesn t need to replace the talarca.
The Talarca needs a skin job done if it stays though. Currently it's like someone found some muck on the ground and attempted to stretch a thumbsized piece of it onto the entire ship.
In regards to this ship though, love the design. The engine parts remind me of Anime quite a bit for some reason but apart from that, really do love it. Any kind of private/civilian ships are generally a good idea. Currently you can have billions of credits but all these ship building companies don't seem to care.
' Wrote:this is a concept i m working on that is meant as a replace for the "star trek" model of the current Talarca civilian cruiser. - the concept is vastly different to the current model though. - i took the chassis of the liner as a basis and added what i found would be needed to - to turn it into a military grade vessel while still keeping its elegance as a civilian vessel.
as a reminder - this is the current Talarca Cruiser:
it still has certain liberty elements, two half liner hulls are attached to create a main hull. - the engines of the liner were removed to be replaced by two large reactor chambers and 4 engines. - the whole ship is quite massive ( in terms of - it hasn t got the convenient liner profile anymore that is rather small ) and meant to be of liner size.
so far the model is rather detailed, but i think the polycount is still down to whats easily manageble ( 3200 polygons only )
since the talarca is almost only in use among the harvesters... its mostly about them to decide if thats a replace they can live with - or what has to be changed. - the model is a good step further than the current freelancer design. - i think its still close enough... but it takes a good distance from the "conservative" thought of freelancer ships. - however, since its a civilian vessel, there is definitely more freedom in design, as civilians can usually afford to pay more for specificly designed stuff than the military that does not pay much more for design, but only for functionality.
If this becomes a liner then my faction which has like 8 of these things as our main war ship will need something new and I really dont want the flamesx that go with that. Please just leave it a light criuser. The maodel is great but lets not change stats. It is currently the only ship we can use and not get cooked for power gameing. We are official now so please dont forget our needs and contribution to the Disco universe.
oh, if it was a replace, it simply cannot become a liner. - its not really concepted as a liner either. i ll texture it and see how it looks ( - when i made the engine section i wasn t aware how the front would look like - when i model stuff, i don t really have a plan - i just add polygons where they fit in.... )
Scorn, I know you guys like the Talarca as it is for your purposes, So how would this sound? Move the current Talarca out to Kappa, and put the new model in Kusari where the Talarca was. I think that solves the problem. The Talarca is not a Kusari looking ship, and if the reason we end up keeping it is that a non-kusari faction uses it doesnt make sense. Change the name of the Talarca, and the info card to make it non-Kusari. My thing is that I want a Cruiser to use in Kusari that looks Kusari and feels Kusari, non of those things is the Talarca as it is now.
