Actually the point of the thread is based on noticing obese people doing the suing. Blaming their physical condition from freedom of choice on someone else. (Since the title mentions Americans and the examples so far have been Americans and I assume it's a country of free choice.......totally different debate there)
Edit add: I'm also currently unaware of any country that doesn't respect individual freedom (dictatorship or otherwise) that is also forcing McDonalds down the throats of it's population as though it's some national dish.

So is the issue that fat people are suing McDonalds or that fat people are suing McDonalds claiming it's the chain's fault they're fat? The first part happens obviously, employment suits, personal injury suits, what have you, but the latter does not.
Canadian here. The age of lawsuits is over. There was a time where people would claim they really didnt know the food was so bad for you. Yes it was pure ignorance, and it was not just limited to America or Canada, but most 'wester' countries. But hey, McD's has been in Beijing since around 1990.
So most people have scaled back their fast food as opposed to 20 years ago. They stll thrive though. No one's won any precedent setting lawsuit against fast food in quite some time though.
Yeah it's gotten much easier to find out what's being served these days. Those Mc"Ribs" went a bit viral. Many of us have seen how they make those nuggets now....*shivers*
