Sorry for me the new viper does not work. Engines are too big and it lacks the Sleek look of the current viper. Basically it looks like some outcasts has stolen it and retrofitted it. Vipers are supposed to look agile although that looks like a Viper bomber. not bad as a bomber.
Okay, slept with it and here's what a complete colonial nutjob thinks:
The viper's engines: Blend them with the hull, no need for them to stick out. And even less need for an idle hunk of butt it has now. Best if the whole rear was seen ingame as a wall of exhaust fumes and fire. Besides, these large intakes on the wings and on the nose will have a logical application once the engines get moved inside. (Basically - cut the engines out rework the rear to make it support engine hardpoints)
The nose intake has good shape, but I'd appreciate its downsize by some... 50%. Weapon hardpoint placement is excellent. Same for the cockpit shape and overall hull design.
The Spatial's shape should stay as it is. The form I like a lot. Without the side plate, the ship would look like crap. It's fine now. Also - the large cockpit may justify a downscale of the whole model to make it more useful in combat than it is now. I say - if it's scaled to the size of a regular bomber (Even with the side plate still there and the cockpit bigger if necessary), we'll have our own bomber.
That much as for shapes.
Now for skinning.
I'll hug you for that Colo... err, I mean IMG ^^ Emblem on both ships.
However, I suggest you get in touch with Doom about the rest of the skin. Not that I don't like that metal greay straight from Liberty, but on the viper it looks too heavy. Also - they wouldn't match the IMG line Doom's doing. How about ya ask Doom for his IMG caship texture set?
They both look good but for the love of humanity, get rid of the giant nose on the spatial :o
It looks like someone ripped the fuselage off the LH gunboat and stuck the rest of the ship ontop of it. Other than the nose, it looks good however.
The Viper, I suppose, is a viable replace, though the textures need work. (personally, I'd just remove 'em all, but w/e). The Spatial I actually like a lot, but it needs a lot of those engines to turn into fuel tanks, and become a lot less skeletal.

Seperate hitboxes are possible and do work but they require a lot of work. Dev (Or Devast8or) has done a lot of work into this sorta stuff, he's currently helping out the Freeworlds team.
