legenation has his own style - like every other modeller. - i like his style very much. its much more .. um... influenced by anime ( or so it seems to me ) - with pronounced shapes in contrast to the rather conservative design i do for example. - but he is brilliant when it comes to texturing. - and his ships have very good proportions and underlaying concepts, imo. ( virage - etc. )

anyway - i don t know if its submitted or not - i haven t seen him on the forum for a long time - so, chances are not 100% that the order actually gets a gunboat at all next version ( deadline is the same for ships as it is for system submissions - so if he has NOT submitted it yet along with suggested stats etc. - we won t get it )

here are the pictures of a fun ride in OpenSP with the fully hardpointed and textured version.



8 guns, half the size of the osiris does not make this ship overpowered in pvp, but it can fill a RP gap when it comes to reconaissance roleplay.

i added some details, removed the overlarge intakes below the ship and replaced them with fins and mini wings.

a suggestion about its roleplay value would be like that:
- a revolutionary new engine that allows it to travel almost unnoticed by sensors ( somewhat a passive stealth )
- the osiris cloaking device of course, to activly cloak
- advanced spyglass technology for an even greater sensor effect, even through nebulas ( where its supposed to hide, - thats what the winglets are for )
- a superior agility compared to any other ship of its class ( it should be the most agile, but its also one of the largest destroyers ( about cruiser/ battlecruiser size ) )
- i would suggest to give it a 200 thruster instead of a 140 - and a superior backwards thrust 70
- low armour ( maybe "only" 180.000 )

Now thats a beauty!

I know you said it's supposed to be small, but it looks very large without a comparison...

Also, i think the BHG destroyer has 9 turrets doesnt it? Regardless, if the thing is manuverable enough that may not be a problem...

Personally, I find the winglets rather distracting and unnecessary. The spikes... meh. Not too fond of them. The rest of it, though.... wow. Great job here, Jinx. I'm a big fan of your designs. Also, I believe there was another Order gunboat design submitted, but the modeler's name escapes me at the moment. However, this other design looked much more fitting than Legeonation's, which I feel would work better as a Corsair vessel.

EDIT: Oh, and that arch thingy in the middle seems a bit too tall. It's be nice if you could shorten it a bit.

yes, its submitted, but in the current shape. - since my harddrives are all wiped clean ( and the only backups i do are for university stuff ) - there is no model to meddle with anymore. - the models stay the way they are submitted. - but its still upon igiss to consider if they add something beneficial to the mod or would rather only be a "feature" - in the later case, we can as well ignore them, cause no one needs a feature without purpose.

well, i modelled a fancy antenna on the new jug... but i daresay the zoners would be highly reluctant to pass one of those to the order - just as the order would not be too happy to see a zoner fly around with an osiris. both factions, although allied, are very protective about their "top gear".

doesn t mean its impossible - but really ... you DON T WANT to fly a juggernaut as a recon vessel. i have increased its size by 20% making it the largest battleship in the game. - the purpose of that is to :

- get more armour attached to it
- make sure they are not taken for a spare time flight through the inner sphere. ( believe me, it will be a pain to do that )

they are made to be rather stationary guardships - and as such, they will be really really hard to "move around".

Gotta revive this one, 'cause I've a question:

Is there aaaaany way, y'know, a guy like me could get his hands on this destroyer model (and all the other files required in order to test it in FL) BEFORE 4.85 actually comes out? It'd be just peaches if someone could send it to me.:)

... or at least $50, so that I can continue to afford the anti-depressives that keep me s' damn jolly.
