Seeing that some people are getting banned who comment on this topic, ill keep it light.
I am rather new on this server after joining about a month ago. In this time the only person who has really welcomed me to the server, showed me
how stuff works around here, teached me the basics of Freelancer, showed me how to make cash and how mining works, answered all my stupid
questions and gave me tips has been @Karst. @Karst was the only one who took the time to explain all these things to me and help me make
quite some cash in this time. @Karst is contributing so much to the server and his probably the most friendly person I know here. He is also a
mining Otaku and will never say no if anyone has questions about about the game or mining. He will take the time to write a wall of text (no copy
paste) to explain why you should equip this / do that. @Karst is also very dedicated to RP and the Gameplay. I can see that from the official
Faction I joined, that he happens to be in. I have yet to see someone contributing to the server as much as @Karst .
I can't seem to find any offence gainst @Karst exept for that one comment Jansen made. Banning this Sir must be some kind of mistake.
Even my twin brother, who quit Discovery Freelancer about half a year ago ( @Ryu Haruko / @xTimberwolfx ) said that he was shocked that @Karst is getting
banned.
I don't know the other people who got banned, but I can say that I am pretty sure that banning @Karst must be a mistake. He is contributing more to the
community than most people think. This guy will help anyone who asks and is more new player friendly than anyone I know.

Part of why they got banned is exactly that.
The people that liked them (around 20) are still playing, but the people who disliked them or where disliked by them (much more than 20 players, and a number of entire factions) were basically mobbed off the server by them over the last years. Certainly not only by them, and maybe not by all of them, but some of them were a part of it.
I think the admins move is kind of a desperate measure to stop this.
It's much, much to late, of course, and it's also not the right move either.
The right move would have been to stop such mobbing actions by the "l33t" over the last years, instead of blaming the failure of the whole system on a few individuals years later. But for that, it is now too late, of course. In a nutshell, only the a-holes who got to be friends with them are left now anyway.
In the end, their behavior was only a manifestation of the failure of the system: certain people got to be a-holes, if they were popular enough. Some people's fun was deemed more important than other people's fun, via law, via unwritten law, and via selective application of law.
In reality, if you wanted a healthy community, you had to acknowledge that the fun of the person who just logged on the first time, who had no friends here yet, who had no idea of written or unwritten rules yet, was just as important as the fun of the person who logged on every day for 3 years, who had lots of friends in the right places, who knew all the written and unwritten laws, and who knew how to use them to his advantage. That's something that admins and community leaders here never really understood. I think they still don't.

Time left: (Permanent)
I'd want you, Biggy Greeny Guys, to give all those people a 2nd chance. Maybe some of them did something bad, but now they'll know what's the payback for it. Nerf this sanction to warning only and give all of them 2nd chance.
Just to be fair, I didn't expect to see Karst's name on that list. And I would like to 2 or 3 more names to be added, including a green one.
But that's not the point here. The point, in my view, is the QQ that follows. Saying that the admins are dictators and tyrants for banning people that really had it comming for a loooooong time, most of them sanctioned several times before, is just that: QQ. If it depended on me those guys would have been banned a long time ago. With no appeal after 6 months, by the way.
Clearly a divided community on this... Or what's left of it. If you're against them, think about how you'd feel being in their shoes. A few had been sanctioned before yes, but not nearly to a severe enough degree to warrant such a wild step up. Again, no rules have been mentioned, no evidence has been presented and no further explanation from the greens have been given.
Of course they'll stay silent and wait for it to blow over but that's a poor way of dealing with a situation. It's disappointing and I hope every new member who now finds us, sees this and thinks twice. Only way they'll learn to be reasonable humans rather than Internet warriors.
