I would consider the acquisition of the Spyglass Scanner to be an oorp process. It's no longer considered to be made by the Lane Hackers, they have their own, superior variant which also has technerf.
If it weren't so fun to make people fly to Airdrie we could add more sellpoints as well. The infocard also needs updating.
That would address the concern, yes. Although it would be cool to have Nomad scanner(s) simply because you're still mounting human equipment on these ships, even if it is mostly seen as an oorp thing.

The moneysink scanner for the other shipclasses is represented by the Spyglass Scanner, which any ship can mount and which still presents an advantage over the standard Advanced Deep (15/3.5 rather than 15/2).
I'm open to the idea of slightly improving the Spyglass but it won't be as effective as the Battleship Scanner.
Looking at the current list of scanners: http://discoverygc.com/wiki/Scanners
Would you consider making an alternative to Advanced Cargo Scanner ? Something like 12/11 ?

Yes please.

Aquiring Equipment for your ship should never be an oorp process, especially not if the item is a high tech item that is solely produced by 1 faction.
Having the Spyglass (as we have it now) as the Money sink makes it just one Thing: not a Money sink. For me, a Money sink means that many People can Access something that is pretty expensive, gives you a slight Advantage, but does not break the game.
It also introduces a process that most players do oorply in a roleplay. That's bad.
Moreover, even this oorp process cannot even be done (dock at a Hacker base is impossible for most IDs).
So... do we make Hacker ID restarts and trade it in conn?
That CANNOT be the solution
It also harms the Lane Hacker faction which loses something that is (if I am not misinformed) uniqueliy theirs.
P.S: Sorry for weird capitalisation. This Laptop is kinda random in what it does when I press keys...
-1 If we are going to do this can we please have a buy back program or something? Just with this I'm going to be out about 1b because I can't mont them to anything, And I know other people that will be in the same boat

True that. 90% who currently have a Spyglass have some justification for it but if this ends up as the true alternative open to everyone it becomes ooRP. I would say a lawful version with the very same stats as the Spyglass will do the job.
Devs are bouncing stuff back and forth. What used to be unique tech appearently isn't anymore. Why are balance guys messing with lore and roleplay is beyond me.
Makes some sense for smaller cruisers, but would it not make sense to let the BS Scanner be mountable on a Resheph, given the whole function of that ship is a Reconnaissance Cruiser, that boasts "scanning technology of dizzying sophistication"? You would think then that it would have a pretty high-range scanner, given it's lore.
Also, Corvo should keep it, if it can't already - given it's an exploration ship. Just my two cents.
Unless the ship-based technerf plugin is re-written, it's not possible to make it usable on individual ships.
The removal of that plugin is why the BS scanner was usable on other ships to begin with. That was never supposed to last as long as it did.
I would like to find a solution that allows everyone to sink money into scanners that makes everybody happy including the Lane Hackers and I don't intend to rewrite the lore around it entirely, the problem is that the lore around it isn't really clearly defined anyway. The original Spyglass was, as I understand, an electronic warfare battleship that evolved into the current Arbiter.
Clearly that is not the same scanner as the current Spyglass that can be mounted on fighters, so I'm not sure what should be done with that.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but why are the non-advanced variants of Deep and Cargo Scanner still a thing, when the advanced ones are not even a cargo load of Helium more expensive? While the normal 500Cr Scanner has 15k range and 1k cargo scan range. Can't we just edit them and make one of them a lawful version of the Spyglass Scanner without touching LH lore? Like, same stats but without TLAGSNET. And give TLAGSNET to the Network Scanner, if that isn't the case already - correct me if I'm wrong, but I'd rather have the Lane Hackers use TLAGSNET instead of their metagame script that can't differ between people being in a system and people actually using jump gates or trade lanes.
Edit: That implies it is possible to bind TLAGSNET not to IDs but subsystems. Don't know if the plugin can do that.
