The Razor needs to be buffed, that isn't the question.
Even if it was a good weapon, the Cruiser still lacks real flexibility in its loadouts... making a Mini-Mortar would really open up a myriad of options.

I agree that either razors need a buff so that they become this - or that this weapon be added. I've been sitting still - at nearly point blank range testing - and had the razor do basically nothing to the shields on a gunboat, bomber, and even a fighter.

Mortars are often used in pairs... I see mini-mortars being used the same way.

Well I think there is a huge diffrence between cruissers and battleships. Shouldn't compare them.

There is indeed a subtle difference between the two.
Cruisers, however, certainly share more in common with battleships than any other ship in the game, and they're more closely related than any other class, I'd say. Bombers are unique. Fighters and Gunships are similar, but gunships are also quite different, given that their weapons are designed after those of capital ships, rather than fighters, which means energy conservation and equipping are completely different. Battleships and Cruisers are use reflexively and against the class of ships directly below it and have specialized long-range weapons. (Cruisers, to make up for their lack of power and thus inability to stand up against a capital ship, have longer range weapons.)

Fair enough to say that we can roughly compare them in this thread, at least for the purposes of weapons - as the mechanics concerning their weapons, weapons use, energy consumption, etc... however, remains relatively the same between classes.

Light mortar used to fighters: 21
Razors used to kill fighters: 12
Primes used to kill fighters: 43



Lets just say... within 250-400m LM is godlike against a fighter.... razors just fail as LM seems to have faster "turret turn rate"... may just seem like it... but razor on cruiser is a disgrace to its kind. same goes for gunboats..

Minirazor: 19 500 (380m/s)
Gunboat razor: 18 500 (800m/s)
Cruiser Razor: 36 500 (800m/s)
Battle razor: 150 000 (1600m/s)

I may be a bit off of the numbers, but their accurate enough to see the point....

For instance: Gunboat razor is WEAKER then its "little brother".... Then again cruiser razor is just plain weak. offering "instakill" damage but "slow" speed and a ridiculous drain... id say buff the speed AND damage

Cruisers are purely a "RP Tool" as of now. Except those "heavy cruisers" like praefect, hessian/RH Pirate and rheinland. Their just unfair to fight when theyr using solaris or "secondaries".

@ Mini mortar - well it would be rather awesome on my BHG or Kusari dessie, so kinda dunno, would possibly need to lower turning speeds of both mortars

@ Cruiser razors - not so long ago there was a thread about how uber there are on small cruisers...., 1 does insta-kill a VHF right now, don't think it should insta-kill a bomber.
I can't see them getting faster than some 1000 m/s maybe efficiency could get slightly up.

GB razor is so much "worse" than fighter ones cause GBs can mount as many of them as they want, fighters can mount just 1.

The Mortars do indeed need a slower turn rate.
They should be considerably slower than other turrets, as the most powerful weapon series in the game, but they're not.

Please, go back and take a look at the math and my arguments if that's what you think this is... you'll soon realise the flaw in your statement. I really hate repeating myself when I've made myself perfectly clear. Or, you can just say "TL;DR and I don't like it" and call it quits.

A mini mortar?

Couldnt' Battlecruisers spam them and shoot like 8 of them all at once? Bad idea. I was thinking of maybe a mini-mortar, for a Gunboat weapon. So we all have freedom to choose our roles. Battleships have it (except for heavies) We can be Solaris anti bombers, or Anti Cap Hellstorm.

Cruisers and gunboats, not so much.
