TBh, I could say the same of your mother (JK!)
Its a matter of opinion..but I coul honestly ask where did it ran to trade for his money all the way up from a rhino, and be subjected to his own piratical practices.

I smuggle while pirating in p-trans. Which has cap armor. That means a bit more than 3000 free space, and using not very profitable trade route.
Somehow I make it.
Oh and chainfire nova can be fixed. How? Give power limitation to npc's. Thats possible.
That isnt the "lawful" tradeing that this would really impact though. try giving an ordinary trader a shot, and cal me in the morning. In my exeperience, smuggling is loads easier.

With Corsair id? ....
You see I'm not offering another bunch of deadly npc who would go for "red must be dead" moto. Why, becouse faction would be always neutral to everyone. No matter what you do. They pick up only on "Drop your cargo"
And transport with turretes can take down one bomber. No doubt.
"5k transports factionalized" .... hmm.. bunch of whales and out of rp trading I see around actually
We forgot that powertrading does not exist anymore and it was replaced by power-mining.
Some members have already mentioned that 5k trade ships, or in other words, super-transports are very vulnerable and can only be used from House corporations (except the Advanced Train which is civilian). That means they are not trading in Edge Worlds and with the war between the Houses, they are unable to use many trade routes, so their profit is much less.
I think that hiring escorts within Houses is only for scouting and it isn't needed, but I believe in Edge Worlds the use of escorts should be mandatory (a Zoner whale with 0 turrets should use escorts in Edge Worlds)
Hmmm after further reading..... I don't think I like this from what I can see....
Trading makes me miserable as all hell at the best of times and I do it only once every couple of months so i have enough for bots and bats even then I dont use the money cause then I have none and it forces me to trade again...
Must one be punished even further I say.
I have a survival rate of 85% on a people pirate free run yes that is right NPC's have just a good a time knocking me down in my shire when things go really wrong...An no they don't listen they are the LOLWUTS from hell and LOLOORP but eh you get that... You die you start again having wasted an hour and a bit depressingly bored with no sign of RP on any horizon..
0% survival rate when coming into contact with real pirates:Dyes I guess I get the short straw I always get LOLWUTS pirate me its MoneyBOOM! I have only been pirated once were someone has given me decent RP and cheered me up from the depressing thing that is trading albeit I died:)cause I had no money on my character I had managed to exhaust all the money on another character and got rid of the cargo so it was really a one way trip.
Your about to tell me in addition to forcing one to trade or mine both miserable both practicly RP barren most of the time for so many reasons (yes I hate games... if there is no rp this game is very tedious makes trading and mining want to hurl onself off a cliff hehe ) with an extremely high rate of wasting your hours of life and time away were no profit is gained an nothing to show for the roleplay one would so desperately desire. There would be an extra punishment of enforcing the payment for and the need for escorts that don't do anything to increase your survival rate sigh that would be a very broken system. If it became more mandatory for one to have to fork over money even when you die meaning you are then making in the red I think I would permanently give up on trading for ever... as I much rather be Roleplaying the characters I want to roleplay the ones of my own making not something that is not fun and not of my own willing imagination.
I also don't see one would be having an extreme go at 5000 hold transports.
:)im sorry but my two sense worth is i don't like this idea no offense but I rather not have things made mandatory at the expense of fun and ones roleplay enjoyment I mean face it the only reason one even bothers trading is to make the rest of the roleplaying characters in ones repertoire and keep them supplied. Though there are people that do like rping traders etc... not saying there isnt but basic reason for trading is that.. an well decreasing survival rate or making a compulsory expense deprives one of the characters one would rather be creating and roleplaying..:)sorry about the long rant
Why throw PvE into an RP server to make you grind more?
Actually, where did it ran, I challenge you, to /restart <lawful House>, and trade your way up without smuggling. Just try. And, Go ahead, take a lawful transport of your choice against a bomber NPC. I dare ya.
Whales, cant dock in house space, and if you want a 5k, you have to have a house corp char anyway. I really dont see this utter beef you have with lawful tradeing...............I just dont get it.

/signed (did I do that right? My intention here to add an "amen brother":P)
Seriously, The attitude that traders have ANY unfair advantages is pure ignorance. Traders are NERFED in my opinion.
The ships are slow and made of tissue with respect to the weapons available.
There are no truly profitable trade lanes.
RPing a trader is effectively not allowed thanks to pirates and an unexplainable lack of banks/insurance/police.
The price chain is basically rhino 2 million 6 million 12 million and 180 million. Those are the costs for upgrading ships.
And then there is the maddening rule about not being in a ship you're not factioned with.
That's just silly, what car dealer is going to turn down a sale to a legitimate customer with legitimate cash in hand?
I'm going to buy the best ship for my money if I'm neutral and they're going to sell it to me because I'm neutral.
Might as well remove trading from the game completely given how hard its nerfed.
Check out my post in the feature request thread for ideas about how trading could be made more realistic.
There are four things to do in this game as a goal. Make money, make kills, pyramid climb, and role play.
That is traders/miners, pirates, moderators, all of the above, respectively.
Pirates don't like the idea of traders and miners making lewt because of how little they get killing players. (I assume, I've never played a pirate)
...never played a pirate because its oorp, my characters all want to live, and being a pirate gets you dead. of course pirates in this universe are actually immortal, and because they aren't traders the only thing they lose when they die is pride. And maybe access to a system for a few hours, traders lose that and effectively access to the game since most traders only really have one trade route they enjoy.
Yet pirates complain about how easy traders have it... but when you're saving up and it takes you a half an hour between stations of mindless trade lane hacks lolwuts super slow docking trade lane jump gate animations only to make 2 million profit when the ship you want next costs 180 million, and some kid in a bomber can blast away 2 hours of work with a couple clicks... you REALLY don't feel like you have it easy.
The only thing worse than trading is mining, I mean if you thought fighting the commute was boring just try shooting rocks for an hour. At least on my commute the scenery changes. Somewhat. I say they deserve their mad cash.
I say put a universal bounty on pirates, an immediate payment every time I kill a pirate, then I'll do something other than trade or mine. Make it so when a player dies outside of Connecticut that character is inactive for 24 hours, and if a player dies 5 times their ship gets morphed into a sky flier. Make death mean something. You'll see WAY less pirates and way more role play.
