I lol at people who claim the salvager is a gunboat.
Fact: It's the size of a cruiser
Fact: It has fewer effective gun hardpoints than all but 1 gunboat-class ship in the mod.
Fact: It has transport agility, not gunboat agility
Fact: It is limited to a transport shield, the best of which takes something like 300% more power to regen than a gunboat shield, while having 40k less capacity
It's an overglorified transport, sure, but it's still a transport. No salvager can go head to head with a proper gunboat, it's been tried and tested and it simply does not work.
Funnily enough, junkers have similar performance issues with both our VHF and our bomber, when compared to what's available to other factions that we might have to tango with.

Depends on weapon setup, but I'd venture that a properly equipped BWT or Ptrans could take on a slavager fairly effectively.
Regardless, what's it matter? You cannot pirate with the salvager, since it has no CD - any transport you do come up against can just run away, and any pirates using transports to get your cargo are in one of the above two craft which can stand up against it, or are flying bombers/gunboats which completely wreck the salvager.
It's a novelty, the salvager is a little easier to fight off npc's in than a standard transport, but it has no real advantage when it comes to any sort of pvp encounter.

I agree fully about the salvager. I did a test with my faction mate's. I took on a salvager with my Slave liner,and crushed it with 400bot's,and 150 bats to spare. I also crushed it with a pirate trans with similar result's. And came out pretty even with a pirate train even,and that has only 6 7 turret's.(1 of which on mine was a mining turret)
As for our fighter's? i think you are wrong. I have killed sabre's in a Colector. and took on that SHF Rhienland has in my Recycler,and beat it down. Our ship's are fine,you just need to use it's advantage's,and fight your fight,not your opponent's.

It suck's. If you do gain the advantege? they will just cruise away,and you have to just watch them.
But this is really off topic,and i think we should all just do as we are told,and just post here if we have a GB idea for the junker's. I personally think the Recycler does fine killing GB's for us.
If you are saying that Junkers would be able to build another Gunboat, then I say that the Unioners together with the Red Hessians would be able to build a Battleship. Harr.
