You will need to get it imported into MilkShape to make the required files; a MAT and CMP. Additionally adding hardpoints in HardCMP is apreciated by Igiss. All this can be found in the sickied topics at the top of the developers forum. If examples are needed, view the existing models in the DATA part of your freelancer game files. Note; there will be SUR files for each model as well, but Igiss prefers to make those himself.
There is the link for MS. Free version is a 30 days trial. The Freelancer ex and importers are bound to a license of MS wich will cost you 25$ or 25 Euro. So some of the ex and importers may produce a crash.
You will need a CMP file for the model meshes datas, FL can handle. This is to export out of MS.
You will need a MAT file for the texture datas, FL can handle. You can export out of MS, but only if the texture is an uncompressed .tga format and flipped vertically. MS can not handle .dds format.
If you have your textures in .dds format you have to make the Mat file manually with the UTF Editor.
On lancersreactor.com are some tutorials. how to make the Mat file manually and you will find all necessary tools, like UTF Editor and HardCMP.
This is surely my best one yet. As always I try to keep a sharp look with a low poly-count.
This one is made right with seperate meshes for textures and a Hardpoint Map.
This is meant to be a Light Gun Boat or a Super Heavy Fighter.
A gun boat with less firepower and more maneuverability.

This one will be ready and packed for "Angel of Mercy" after a break.

Oh man, that is a nice looking ship. Reminds me of the F6F Hellcat or the P-47 Thunderbolt from WW2. Love it!
