This will require a considerable degree of internal discussion. The movement of the noted materials isn't a matter of any great concern, the request of what is to be done with them following is.
Might I ask the reasoning behind your employing space bound food manufacture? Between the extreme costs and effort required to create orbital production sites for something requiring acerage to the extremes required to serve as a reliable source of mass nutrition, the cost of moving supplies from the planet below to the facilities above and so on, not to mention vulnerability, it seems to me that the most cost effective solution would be to consider producing terrestrial greenhouses at critical locations.
That would be an endeavor in which we would hold a much higher chance of success.
Well, I'm no expert on engineering. Omicron 94 in particular is a very safe demilitarized system, which sadly lacks any habitable planets. The logic was that, in the event of a critical conflict within our original home, we would not lose any of the capacity to produce our own food. If we did, it would hinder our ability to fight back beyond a certain point, condemning our civilisation to the history books. A case of hope for the best, prepare for the worst.
If you could suggest the measures of security that planetside installations could employ, from both orbital bombardment and ground-based sabotage, and the extra cost in materials that would incur, I'd be grateful.
Additionally, you did not provide a name to send the first sum of credits to. Do you not want them? I thought it only fitting for the services rendered thusfar.
[font=Comic Sans Ms]Hold onto your credits for the time being. We're being compensated as it is for the shipment of food.
In regards to additional compensation I'm sure we can work something out, something which would speak far louder than a handful of currency.
But we, the IND, will need to deliberate at some length on this matter. Investing in this project will require more than simple shipments of goods if it's to be done right.
There are additional details that we would need to put to rights before moving ahead as well, but those chiefly concern our own back end.
We'll be in touch shortly. In the meantime expect the promised shipments to continue.
[font=Comic Sans Ms]An intriguing development has taken place.
A mercenary group has, apparently, been contracted to halt all shipments of food and I quote "To the Corsairs" on behalf of an organization which is "mad at the Corsairs".
I would suggest inquiring with other organizations operating in the area if they too have had issue with these gentlemen. Given that they were closely patrolling both the Gamma and Theta jumpholes perhaps OSI would have some knowledge of these gentlemen.
Or perhaps not, as I understand that they were allowed to pass into Corsair space unmolested.
At any rate I was able to perform a customary shuck and jive of my tail in Omicron Kappa and proceed to Gamma for the dropoff without any further incident. Though the presence of these mercenaries gave cause for me to deviate from my normal path through Kusari space to that of Rheinland. I expect that the people of Crete will find the food of Rheinland no less nourishing than that of Kusari.
I would suggest probing the bounty listings to see if the employer of these obstacles might not be uncovered.
Oh well, despite the roadblocks again placed before the IND we've managed several dropoffs.
Now to less annoying news, several food shipments were made. Foodstuffs from Kusari and Rheinland both. I'm sure you'll find them far superior to goods delivered as an afterthought from Freeports that happened to be on the road between commercially attractive trade points. That'll be 30800 tonnes , bringing us to a total of 80860 in the last week.
I have also brought several loads of food to Crete in the last few days. However, due to a glitch in decoding the ships cargo manifests, a hard copy of the amount is temporarily unavailable. You do have my promise this will be rectified within a short time frame. at that time I will amend my transmission.
So far, I have delivered 3 loads of Food for a total of 19,120 tons delivered. All of the food has come from Kusari.
I appreciate the warm welcome I have recieved everytime I have visited Crete.
Please expect confirmation of my cargo manifest within the next 10 hours or so. I have the best technicians working on the issue as we speak.
[font=Comic Sans Ms]Accompanying a shipment of luxury foods requested by a rather, ah, well anyways a member of the HAF the Invisible hand dropped off the last of the 100k quota of food earlier today.
The Hand has just finished mooring with Tripoli and your men are unloading the final load of super conductors.
This brings our total shipment to 30000 ~ Quantum Multiplexors, 100000 ~ Food Rations and 30000 ~ Super Conductors, this, I believe, satisfies the original terms of our agreement.
Now, to the matter brought to our attention by Juan Montoya.
The IND's circumstances, with our splitting from Interspace Commerce, now enable us to proceed with any plans to invest in self sustainment projects for the people of Crete. However I feel that it would be more practical to do so in person, there is some light site surveying I would like to perform which I believe would aid in outlining a plan of attack.
When you're ready to reply, you'll know how to find us.
Circumstances have led us to require more than the amount of goods you have delivered so far at the request of Elder Montezuma. Our stockpiles are fast running out as we increase our industrial capacity.
We would like it if the Independent Neuralnet Division would replicate their performance with this new contract, which would be larger than the old. That is:
"That'll bring us to 36760 tonnes of chow for you" Rhyme stated, strolling through the warehouse district he had reserved for the purpose of more quickly delivering his goods directly at the starport with dockmaster in tow. "Which should keep things rolling in good health for a while yet. We'll need these yards sorted out pretty damn quickly, however, to make room for additional incoming. The Zoners have been pressing us on all sides to keep these shipments from coming through but I expect we'll have this volume again shortly regardless." He chuckled, suddenly, recalling the events of the last few days aboard FP 9. "Right then, I think that should settle things nicely."
