There's no reason for you to be sitting next to the Essex. If you're running away from a pirate, dock. Don't sit there and have the battleship protect you until the pirate gives up and leaves. It's being a bad sport.
[17:45:39] Wolfs Ghost (Murphy): Tom, you have problems. Go kill yourself.
[19:25:12] Johnny (Jam): Tomtom, I will beat you with a spoon.
[14:22:56] Prarabdh Thakur: KILL HIM WITH A SHEEP.
[17:40:48] Eagle (Junes): Tom should be slapped with a spoon.
[11:32:18] Warspite: Thank you for being so awesome Tom. <3
[18:17:36] Metano: I love you tomtom
[20:06:24] Warspite: I will seriously give you epic head.

No, its being a bad pirate.
And expecting him to leave the system for you when he doesnt need to is being unrealistic.

Seem's strange being attacked by BHG, knowing most of them are Order|..If ya catch my drift.

Hello fans, decided to talk about us a bit more? :D
I am so glad that you constantly think about us, makes me warm around my heart everytime I see you mentioning Order| but ...
On topic...I didn't noticed so many people around Essex, but seeing all those threads seems it's happening.
So much things would be simplier if more people read forums.

The pirate is unable to even attack the miner. It's essentially docking. And the miner will sit there for as long as it takes for the pirate to leave. And then the pirate counts as fleeing the fight. It isn't right, the Essex has no reason to be as over-powered as the Isis. The Essex's power should at least be lowered down to the normal battleship base level.

Maybe the pirate shouldnt have let him get there?
Why should the miner leave the system although he is in no danger of dying?
Its totally unrealistic to expect him to do that.
In my rules reform (see he links in my sig), I proposed a rule that makes this exception to the fleeing rule:
Moving away 10k does not count as a pvp death if the enemy is hiding at a base.
This allows the pirate to leave the base-hugging trader without having to leave the system.
Click the links in my sig, and give your opinion there if you want.

Having done the math, there is a ~25k radius around the Essex in which the pirate doesnt have enough time to kill a cap8 miner.
Once you rachet the accuracy and factor in the shield absorbtion, it becomes more like ~30-40K.
The mining fields in Dublin are well within that range.
gone four years, first day back: Zoners still getting shot in Theta :|

Bring more firepower then. He was resourceful enough to spend cash on the best armor around, perhaps you should be as resourceful? Or you could not bother with him, since you know you can't kill him.
Though if you do that the idiot usually helps the miner you do attack.
I don't blame miners for running to it, it is the most logical in role play thing for them to do. I think pirates should be allowed to break off if their target manages to get to the base and just sits there, without being considered PvP defeated and having to leave the system.
Gives the pirate a chance to re group and pick a better method of attack. Having the miner counted as PvP defeated removes a potential target from the system. Not something a greedy pirate wants.
