Good. Now me and two buddies recently started pirating. I'm sure you've seen us near colorado a few times, we try to roleplay. However, we learned a couple of things real fast:
1. People think because we roleplay addled pirates (we're rogues, the stupid kind, its fun!), we must be morons. Wrong. We see you trying to escape, escape means death.
Lesson: Put on in front, one in back, and the other talks smack. Don't try to outwit us. You're our target, not the other way around.
2. Wow, this guy actually talks to us, exclaims problems for his company. Whay, he's even threatening to sue us. Harr ha- wait a second, holy frick on a stick, there's 4 bountyhunters, 3 navies and 5 freelancers coming for us. Ruuuuuun.
Lesson: We won't give you more then a couple of minutes before we blow up your little trader. We know you're stalling even though your roleplay is perfect. We know you're calling in the lolwhuts.
3. Well this guy just doesn't have a clue. What's an outcast fleet? Cap..i..ta.. ah hell I dunno, I wonder if he's talking about his cargo. Wait a second, he doesn't even have any cargo. Why is he being such a nuisance. Oh hell now he called us names. He's dead.
Lesson: Be polite to the guys putting a gun to your head. I know it's just a respawn, but it's not a respawn for your crew, their families and such. Not to mention a multi-million credit ship going down the drain. Don't go "just shoot me", it sucks for you to be pirated, but it sucks even more for us who went out on the line trying to give you some 'entertainment' (I know, bad choice of words) with our lives out on the deck.
Now. I know this has been said a million times but if you want security, hire escorts. And don't give me that bullcrap about 'oh noes there are never any mercs or freelancers on'. Strange thing is, when you're being pirated you know exactly where to find em. So don't give me that. I've not seen a night go by where there werent mercs or freelancers out in space. I bet they'd love to make a million or two. (as opposed to the 4 million we'll demand if you run into us without an escort.
Finally. This is to you escort people. If you're not outnumbered, don't call in reinforcements. It sucks having to start out a fight fair and square, or maybe even being outnumbered a little bit, but it REALLY sucks if we get ganked like some.... well, something to do with an alley. It just takes the fun away. There's only so much fire we can dodge.;)
I ask depending on your ship. If you're in a Rhino, I'll ask for something random, like a shirt or something. If your not, and have a Liner or Mastadon, 2 mil. Or more, if you got expensive cargo. My line levels at 5 mil. I don't go higher to avoid overtaxing.
And c'mon guys, lets not fight, please! We're here to have fun, lets not get pissed at players over a damn game for the love of God...
a) More than 50% of traders I stop on my rogue or molly do RP and provide quite an enjoyable encounter. Maybe I'm just lucky. Haven't been pirated on my traders for months, though.
b) What is wrong with demanding money? That's the most logical thing for pirate to demand, at least at first. Trader doesn't want to pay a reasonable (most of the times) sum - it's up to him to come up with an interesting enough alternative. I've had a trader reduce 1.75M demand to 50 units of plutonium and recipe of radioactive cocktail.
c) What other motivation can one have to pirate, if not to roleplay? Money? Yeah, right, with several times less a profit than trading, even on most profitable lanes. PvP? With whom? Transports? Not really the most challenging action there is.

Of course, there needs to be a fight! No way in hell I let you have MORE fun than me  [/sarcasm]
:D
So yeah, it's a game:)Relax, chill out, cool down and refresh yourself after you've "lost" - besides, you gained experience and you cannot sell or trade that! ;)

Actully I do, when some asks me how I tell him look how I throw out Collin my technican. and do ::Ejecting Escape Pod:: then I say I tractored him back. and tell my prey to do the same, but usually they cruise away when they only see me, so I just throw "give 3 million credits or face insurance company."and pop them, people that refuse to RP and just continue to cruise can take into consideration that they will die, this is RP server not mindlessly trade for BS server.
Here's a reason for only demanding credits: I want to be bountied.
Which I wouldn't get if I demand someone to move commodities to my base, in that situation, he would probably end in friendly terms, maybe not, but in order to get my ship bountied, I have to be mean.
Well, i wanted to clarify some things..
I am not talking about asking 2 mil when im flying some 4k transport.. or even 2k.
But of asking 2 mil when I just spent my first to mil for buying Camara and on my first run.. And when I try to RP as being a freelancer employed by some guys, and dont have money to pay or such.. I just get blown up.
But yeah, I had forgotten about silent trader problem.. Though part of it might be too high taxes for not so rich traders..
Its just that if you make 1 mil per run or less.. you cannot afford to pay 2 mil tax.. or 2 mil to escorts..
But I just asked if there are pirates actually RPing.. and seems there are.. Im just being ulucky.
